About This Game

Your torch burns with every step.

You're a scholar sent under the Queen's seal to map a grotto that someone else called home first. Their tools are still here. Their handwriting is still on the walls. They left recently enough that the cave hasn't forgotten them.

When the flame goes out, the run ends and you climb back to the city, but only what you learned in the Grotto comes out with you. Learn what ingredients brew together to form powerful combinations and keep your flame aglow.

What you'll do down there:

• Gather what the grotto offers — ore, moss, fungus, strange things in the water

• Brew potions at the Alembic Table, where every combination makes something (experimentation is key here)

• Meet Vorn, who tends locked doors and will trade you passage for the right goods

• Read the old tongue, one word at a time, and start to understand who lived here

• Build up the city between runs under the Queen's watchful eye

The Grotto rewards those who take their time and think carefully about their next moves.
