Its body is its build. Assemble a magic puppet from carved wood, cut crystal, chiselled stone and stitched felt, where every part changes how it fights. Light your way across an island trapped in a winter night that never ends, then settle things on a tactical board.

About This Game

What you see is how it fights

Sprigling is a puppet brought to life by magic. Build it from 11 parts (head, neck, torso, arms, legs, wings, tail, eyes, ears, nose and mouth), changing the size, length and number of each however you like.

There's no stat screen to study. A long neck reaches higher targets, more legs make it harder to knock over, and big enough wings let it fly over others. One look at an opponent's body tells you how it will fight.

A night that never ends

A storm leaves a fairy puppet-maker and her partner puppet stranded on an island where winter will not pass. Your partner carries the light: every square it passes stays lit, and the rest of your troupe can only take the stage where the light reaches.

Pieces lost to the winter roam the dark. Break them and they drop their parts. Bolt them onto your partner between floors, and keep the rare ones safe. Fall, and a part of what you carried waits for you where you fell.

A play in three acts

Every winter has its lord. Break its hold and the seasons come rushing back: spring, summer and autumn play out as one match on the board. Gather sap to bring more puppets on stage and spores to see your colony through the winter, or bring down your rival's Mother Rock.

Every unit strikes all adjacent enemies at once, but its power is split among them. Surround to gain the upper hand; get surrounded and you're in trouble. The direction you attack from decides which part you hit, and losing an arm or a wing changes how a puppet fights.

Wood, crystal, stone and felt

Wood beats crystal, crystal beats stone, stone beats wood. Felt sides with no one. Each part keeps its material, so which material goes where is part of the strategy, and each one looks the way a craftsperson would work it: carved grooves, cut facets, chisel marks, stitches.

Your troupe on tour (in development)

Write the script your troupe follows when you can't direct them, then send them on tour to perform against other players' troupes.

One of a kind

No two bodies are alike. Chase power or chase charm; either way, it's yours.

How AI was used: the code, the shapes of the 3D parts, the studio logo, and the game's text and Japanese/English translation were made with help from an AI assistant (Claude). All shapes were built as code combining simple shapes; no image-generating AI was used. Sound effects and music were recorded and made by the developer.

Stonebloom is in development. Features and content may change.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

We used an AI assistant (Claude) during development. No image-generating AI was used, and the game contains no AI-generated images or voices. Nothing is generated by AI while you play.

- 3D shapes: The puppet parts and board objects are built from simple geometric shapes by scripts that the AI assistant helped write. The developer reviewed and adjusted every result.
- Music and instrument sounds: The puppets' instrument sounds and music are synthesized by code written with the assistant (no AI music generator was used). The developer listened to and chose every sound.
- Ambient sounds: Some ambient sounds come from free sound libraries, used under their licenses.
- Text and translation: In-game text was drafted with the assistant, and the Japanese and English versions were translated with its help. The developer reviewed and edited all text.
- Studio logo: Built from basic shapes as code written with the same assistant.
