What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Cry Me a Cosmos is a solo-developed game built around interconnected systems, strategic experimentation, and replayability. As a solo developer, community feedback is especially valuable in helping us identify priorities and improve the game. Early Access gives us the opportunity to refine balance, clarity, pacing, and the overall experience with players while we continue expanding the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect the game to remain in Early Access for approximately 4 to 8 months. This is an estimate and may change depending on player feedback and the scope of the improvements we decide to make.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version, we plan to add more content and strategic options, broaden the variety of viable builds, improve onboarding and balance, and further polish the presentation, performance, and quality-of-life features. These plans may evolve as we learn from players during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version has a playable core loop centered on shaping a cosmos through strategic choices and interacting systems. It includes progression across multiple Soils and Danger levels, along with Temperaments, Mortalworks, events, and upgrade systems. Content breadth, balance, onboarding, and presentation are still being developed and refined.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase as substantial content and features are added or when the game reaches version 1.0. Any planned price change will be announced in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to collect feedback and bug reports through the Steam Community Hub and use them to prioritize balance changes, usability improvements, fixes, and new content. We also plan to share updates and patch notes regularly so players can follow the development process.”

About This Game

Plant Mortals. Water them. Make them cry.

You are a low-ranking god assigned to a small universe. Raise Mortals in a 5×5 garden, harvest their Tears, and satisfy the demands of the gods above you.

Survive twelve increasingly demanding tributes. Then harvest 666 Tears in the final Apocalypse Stage and bring the universe to an end.

MAKE EVERY WATERING COUNT

Mortals begin as Seeds and grow through infancy, childhood, adulthood, and old age. But your Waterings—and your space—are limited.

Every Watering advances the entire garden at once. Mortals may cry, grow, attack, reproduce, or die. Arrange them carefully and make every Watering count before your chances to harvest Tears run out.

BUILD A GARDEN OF SYNERGIES

Every Mortal has a Temperament that changes how they behave.

Gloomy Mortals accumulate sorrow. Cranky Mortals hinder nearby children. Happy Mortals thrive around others, while Lonely Mortals prefer isolation.

Combine their Temperaments and positions to create chain reactions of growth, violence, reproduction, death, and Tears.

CHANGE THE RULES OF YOUR UNIVERSE

Choose and upgrade your Soil to reshape the garden itself. Turn deaths into new Seeds, earn Tears from growth, make injured Mortals retaliate, or fill empty spaces with Fanatics.

Then intervene directly. Install Sprinklers and Wells, build walls, administer treatments, alter Temperaments, or remove Mortals who have outlived their usefulness.

PERFORM THEIR MIRACLES

Despite everything you do to them, Mortals still pray to you.

Fulfill their Miracles—bring children into the world, help Mortals grow, prevent deaths, or fill the garden—and they will weep in gratitude.

Use their faith as part of your strategy.

BRING ABOUT THE APOCALYPSE

Build a garden capable of surviving twelve tributes, then enter the final Apocalypse Stage.

Harvest 666 Tears, and the Apocalypse will descend.

The Mortals will call it a miracle. You will know it was always the plan.
