What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Echo Harvest has reached the point where its core systems form a complete playable experience, but we believe the game will become stronger by developing its next stages alongside the people actually playing it.

The heart of Echo Harvest is about learning from what came before. Early Access gives us an opportunity to apply that same philosophy to development: observing how players build, explore, survive, fail and adapt, then using those experiences to help shape what comes next.

Early Access will allow us to refine balance, improve existing systems and expand the world while listening closely to the experiences of the community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Echo Harvest to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 months. Development will be guided by the state of the game rather than a fixed deadline, so this may change as features are developed, tested and refined.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During Early Access, we plan to deepen and expand the systems already at the heart of Echo Harvest.

Planned development includes richer world generation and environments, greater variety in encounters and creatures, expanded settlement and Echo behaviour, additional events and discoveries, further development of the Chronicle system, balance and quality-of-life improvements, and continued improvements to presentation, audio and accessibility.

The exact shape of some additions may evolve during Early Access as we learn which parts of the game players engage with most strongly. Our priority is to deepen Echo Harvest's existing pillars rather than simply adding features for the sake of quantity.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains the complete core Echo Harvest gameplay loop.

Players can explore a procedurally generated world, gather resources, establish and expand multiple settlements, create specialised Echo workers, construct and defend colonies against corrupted creatures and raids, discover resources and landmarks, manage Timeline Stability, develop persistent upgrades and build Beacons to Ascend into increasingly dangerous timelines.

Both total victory and total timeline collapse are supported. The game also records significant events throughout a timeline and, when that timeline ends, creates an illustrated Chronicle of its history which can be viewed from the Timeline Library and exported as a PDF.

The Early Access version is fully playable, but balance, presentation, content variety and some systems will continue to be refined and expanded throughout development.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently plan to offer Echo Harvest at a lower price during Early Access. The price may increase when the game reaches its full release to reflect the additional content, features and improvements made during development. Any pricing changes will be communicated in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community involvement is an important part of our plans for Echo Harvest.

We want to hear how players actually experience the game: which strategies emerge, where the balance feels right or wrong, what creates memorable stories, what becomes frustrating or repetitive, and which parts of the world players most want to see developed further.

Feedback, bug reports, suggestions and discussion through the Steam Community will all help inform development. This does not mean every suggestion will automatically become part of the game; maintaining a coherent vision for Echo Harvest remains important. But we intend to listen, discuss our reasoning and allow genuine player experience to influence our priorities.

Echo Harvest is a game about the past shaping what comes next. We think its development should reflect that too: the experiences of the players who support the game during Early Access will help shape its future.”

About This Game

The world is ending. It has done so before.

In Echo Harvest, survival is not about saving a single life. It is about building something that can endure across timelines.

Establish settlements, gather resources, explore an increasingly dangerous world and prepare your colonies against corrupted creatures. Beyond the safety of the Home Flame, corruption steadily closes in. You cannot stop time. You can only decide what to accomplish before it runs out.

Your past lives become your workforce.

What you do during each life determines the Echo you leave behind. Gather, build, explore, defend, transport supplies or seek the strange Echo Dust scattered through the world, and those experiences can shape the Echo that follows you into the future.

Over time, a lone Keeper becomes the centre of a growing network of settlements populated by the remnants of lives that came before.

Every timeline is a race against collapse.

Build farms, housing, storage, walls and turrets. Establish new settlements. Discover forgotten places and valuable resources. Strengthen your colonies while balancing expansion against the growing threat they attract.

Echo Dust can help stabilise a failing timeline, but it is limited. Eventually you must decide whether you are ready to construct a Beacon and Ascend — sacrificing the present to strengthen what comes next.

Fail, and the timeline is lost.

Ascend, and the struggle begins again under greater pressure.

But history remembers either way.

Echo Harvest records the story of your timeline as you play. Important discoveries, settlements, battles, losses, periods of prosperity and moments of collapse become part of an illustrated Chronicle of that world.

When a timeline finally ends in victory or total loss, its Chronicle is published to your Timeline Library and can be exported as an illustrated PDF — a permanent history of a world that no longer exists.

Shape the Past. Save the Future.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Generative AI was used during development to assist in creating some pre-generated visual artwork and illustrative assets, including artwork used within the Chronicle system. All AI-assisted content is created and reviewed during development and is included in the game as finished assets. Echo Harvest does not use generative AI to create content dynamically during gameplay.
