For archaeologist and mythology scholar Cassian Thorne, it becomes the beginning of a journey through every answer humanity ever gave to what comes next.

After a catastrophic event tears Cassian and his younger sister Lyra from the living world, Cassian awakens in the Crossroads: an impossible realm connecting the afterlives of different civilizations. Lyra is somewhere beyond its gates, and something ancient is already rewriting the laws that govern the dead.

To find her and return to life, Cassian must travel through six mythological realms, confront the beings who rule them, recover the broken principles of the Crossroads, and discover why his soul belongs to no single divine order.
