About This Game

ABOVE THE TIDELINE

Norway, April 1945. The war is almost over. On Ravnholmen, that does not make it any safer.

Håkon tends a lighthouse on a small island off the occupied Norwegian coast. He lives there with his family, surrounded by cold water, unpredictable weather, German patrols, passing ships and a war that is beginning to unravel.

Every morning brings work.

Every evening brings consequences.

And every night, the lighthouse must make a choice.

KEEP THE FAMILY ALIVE

Food is limited. Paraffin is precious. People become exhausted, frightened and sick.

Assign Håkon, Ingrid, Erik and Solveig to the work that keeps the island running.

Fish from the jetty.

Gather driftwood.

Forage.

Repair equipment.

Watch the sea.

Care for the sick.

Hide what cannot be found.

Rest when you can afford to.

Weather, tides, illness and events constantly change what is safe—and what is necessary.

Sometimes the best decision for the island is not the best decision for the family.

WATCH THE SEA

Ravnholmen may be small, but the war keeps coming to its shore.

A German patrol boat appears at the jetty.

A mine drifts toward the rocks.

A submarine surfaces without warning.

Search dogs move from island to island.

A mysterious crate is left behind.

A senior German officer arrives to inspect the lighthouse.

A stranger needs somewhere to hide.

You rarely know everything.

You may have minutes to decide what to do with information that could save a life—or destroy your family.

CONTROL THE LIGHT

The lighthouse is more than a building.

It is a navigational aid.

A military asset.

A warning.

A signal.

And sometimes a weapon.

German convoys may be ordered through your waters.

Fishing boats may depend on the beam.

Resistance contacts may be waiting for a signal.

Unknown ships may appear beyond the rocks.

At night, you may be forced to decide whether to:

KEEP THE LIGHT BURNING

DARKEN IT

or

USE IT TO SIGNAL

The sea remembers mistakes.

So do the occupiers.

DECIDE WHAT THE AUTHORITIES KNOW

What happened during the day is only half the problem.

At night, you must report it.

For every entry in the official log, you can:

TELL THE TRUTH

LIE

or

SAY NOTHING

Ships seen.

Aircraft overhead.

Visitors ashore.

Wireless activity.

People present on the island.

The Germans do not rely only on your reports.

Patrols keep records.

Officers remember conversations.

Other people may have seen what you saw.

A harmless lie today can become a contradiction several days later.

And silence can be suspicious too.

LIVE BETWEEN TWO SIDES

German authorities expect obedience.

The Norwegian resistance expects courage.

Your family expects to survive.

These demands do not always point in the same direction.

Helping the resistance can endanger your children.

Following an order can condemn someone at sea.

Protecting a stranger may consume food you do not have.

Telling the truth may save you today and betray someone tomorrow.

There is rarely a perfect answer.

Only the one you are willing to live with.

YOUR FAMILY IS NOT A RESOURCE

Håkon is not alone on Ravnholmen.

Ingrid, Erik and Solveig have their own fears, needs and relationships.

They can become sick.

Hungry.

Exhausted.

Hopeful.

Angry.

Afraid.

What happens on the island changes them.

And the choices you make as Håkon can change the way they see him.

Surviving the occupation does not necessarily mean surviving it together.

THE ISLAND CHANGES WITH YOU

The weather shifts.

The tide exposes new ground.

Patrol routes change.

Ships appear on the horizon.

People come and go.

Objects are hidden.

Supplies disappear.

Secrets accumulate.

Actions taken several days earlier may suddenly matter again.

Ravnholmen becomes a record of your decisions long before the final page is written.

THE WAR IS ENDING. YOUR STORY ISN'T DECIDED YET.

History tells us how the war ended.

It does not tell us what happened on your island.

Who did you shelter?

Who did you betray?

Which ships reached shore?

What did you tell the Germans?

What did your family become?

And when liberation finally comes—

who will still be standing beside the lighthouse?

Your choices can lead to 43 different endings, shaped by the people you protected, the risks you took, the secrets you kept and the version of events you chose to leave behind.

ABOVE THE TIDELINE

Keep the family alive.

Choose who the light protects.

Decide what history is allowed to remember.
