A terrarium in the corner

Taskbar Slime: Tucked-Away Terrarium is an idle game about quietly watching the slimes that live in a terrarium tucked into the corner of your taskbar. They are sensitive creatures — touch one and it splits in two. The rest of the time, they just wobble at the edge of your vision.

Give them something, and they change

Stone, an oak leaf, water, a bird's feather. Take a material from the shelf and hand it to a slime, and the slime takes it in and becomes something else. The same stone turns a red one into this and a green one into that. The slimes drop materials themselves, a little at a time, so there is nothing to go out and farm.

It keeps growing while you are not looking

Left alone, slimes bump into one another and mix. They swell larger, or turn into something else entirely. New kinds arrive even when all you are doing is watching.

Everything you find goes in the codex

Every slime you find is recorded in your codex, and there are over 300 kinds in all. Watch at your own pace, hand out a material now and then, and work your way towards a complete collection.

This game was developed with the help of generative AI.

- Generative AI was used to write and translate text (slime descriptions,
in-game wording, and the English localisation). All of it was reviewed
and edited by a human.
- Generative AI was also used to write program code.
- The slime pixel art is not image-generated. It is drawn by a rendering
program written for this game.
- No AI runs while the game is playing. The game makes no network
connections and calls no AI models.
