Dude, Trust Me

Three friends walk into a certain wonderland, room after room of it, each one its own place with its own puzzles. One of you goes blind, one goes deaf, one loses their voice, and every way out is a puzzle in which nobody holds more than a third of the answer.

So you describe it wrong. You guess. You try to explain a color to someone who cannot see one, and your hands are on something while your friend across the room is reading the very symbol you need.

Pick your role

• BLIND, the Hands. No color and no writing reach you, only white outlines in the dark. You hear everything and you can speak, so whatever you find has to leave your mouth.

• DEAF, the Eyes. Total silence, not a word from your friends. In return you are the only one who sees the room as it really is, marks and colors included. You can still talk, so talk.

• MUTE, the Brain. You are the only one who can read, and the Escape Guide is yours. You hear everything and say nothing: your only answer is an emote wheel that only the Deaf can see.

Everything goes through the Deaf

Only one of you can reach the other two, and it is the one who hears nothing back. What the Mute works out reaches the Blind only that way: read off the emote wheel by the Deaf and said out loud, by the person who cannot hear whether it landed. Half of a run is somebody passing on a message they only half understood. The other half is when it clicks and all three of you move at once.

Every room deals the jobs out again

Each map brings its own puzzles, its own mechanics, and its own answer to who is allowed to do what. In one room the Blind turns a dial by ear while the Deaf reads the tablet hanging above the gate. In the next the Deaf is the only one who can touch the cables, the Blind the only one who can press the button, and the Mute holds the only numbers that say where they go. Whatever you got good at last run, the next room hands to somebody else.
