Just Updated

Hi all!  This demo was soft launched as we work toward Steam Next Fest in October.  The current released version of the demo (you should see 0.982 PROLOGUE in main menu->About) is the initial release of the demo.

Please be patient with minor bugs, though we appreciate any bug reports you let us know about and will fix them ASAP!  Easy ways to contact us are the steam forums, or feedback@adiuvat-consulting.com.  Either will get your problem attention quickly in these early days.

About This Demo

The Crown: Prologue is a visual novel set in the early 2000s urban East Coast, where you guide a character from age 12 through age 18, on the road to becoming an underworld boss.  The Crown: Prologue represents a subset of the content awaiting in the full version of the game.

As you play, your character will grow and change.  You'll meet people who may offer you work or threaten you.  Challenges will become harder and you'll succeed or fail based on your preparation and a little luck.

When the game ends, your score will be applied to grant Profile Points that accumulate across runs.  The interesting things you do will also unlock new starting Experiences, Contacts and Equipment.  This means your next character can be stronger and explore differently.

Each ending will be determined by your choices and strategy.  You may die, go to prison, or simply give up on crime as a career. Or you may take the first steps on the path to being a boss in your chosen profession.

This game contains mature themes surrounding all aspects of crime including but not limited to drugs, violence, theft, fraud, etc. Sexual themes are limited to conversational references but are not directly depicted.

Drug and alcohol use is depicted as core elements of the story, though they are not core elements of the gameplay.
