What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The solo expedition can be played from start to finish. We are still working on more distinct character and weapon playstyles, better enemy responses and co-op. During Early Access, player builds, battles and route choices will help guide those changes.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect to release the full version approximately three months after the Early Access launch. During this time, we plan to focus on character and weapon balance, combat performance and co-op stability. If the schedule changes, we will explain the changes in Steam updates.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to improve how character skills, weapons, relics and terrain work together, refine elite and boss battles, and polish events, animation, the interface, performance and co-op. The details will depend on development progress and player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version has a complete five-layer solo expedition, with route choices, companion recruitment, shops, treasure, events and an adventure archive. It includes 30 playable characters, 60 weapons, 120 relics and 15 themed routes; some content is unlocked through play. Combat includes wind, charged shots, skills, destructible terrain and status effects. Steam online and LAN co-op rooms support up to 8 players. Cross-device testing mainly covers basic two-player play on Windows and Steam Deck. Full co-op expeditions, larger parties and stability across different network environments need further testing and refinement. Some battle stutters and build balance are also being addressed.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually increase the price during Early Access as new content and features are added. The full-release price is expected to be higher than the initial Early Access price. Price changes will be announced in advance. Existing owners will not need to buy the base game again for the full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Please share bugs and suggestions in the Steam discussions. Include the game version, character and weapon combination, route, steps to reproduce the issue and screenshots where possible. We will describe fixes and changes in Steam update notes.”

About This Game

Aetherlob is a turn-based artillery roguelite. Mara Venn has made an abandoned starwell observatory her home: Morningtide Base. Now she takes her own cannon from the rack and follows a rumor into the Starfall Corridor. Somewhere on its fifth layer, they say, a star never goes out.

The base's starwell connects you to the travelers out in the corridor. Each turn, you decide where they stand, where they aim and when to release a charged shot.

A shot through the corridor

Watch the wind and the ground ahead. A high arc can reach a creature behind cover; a blast under its feet can leave it without a place to stand. The charge bar falls again after reaching its peak, so the moment you release matters as much as the angle you choose.

The corridor has its own rules. Some routes lighten gravity; others reverse the wind from round to round. A shot that worked in the last battle may need a different approach here.

Beyond the next gate

On a solo expedition, choose a companion and the route ahead at each gate. Your expedition starts with one traveler and can grow into a party of five. A guided shot, a heavy lob or a spread of projectiles gives the next character a different way to fight. Find weapons and relics along the way, and stop at a merchant when the party needs supplies.

Choose your way through five layers, taking on elites, searching for treasure and preparing for each route's boss. The game includes 30 playable characters, 60 weapons, 120 relics and 15 themed routes, with some content unlocked through play.

Command the party yourself, or share the journey through Steam online or LAN co-op. Pick the route together, watch your teammates' shots and plan the next turn.
