What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“SoundStone already has a playable core: drawing and elevating terrain, shaping procedural architecture, tuning cymatic structures, and building reactive music. Early Access lets us refine those systems with players while we improve usability, balance, performance, and the range of architectural possibilities.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Early Access to last roughly 12 to 18 months. This is an estimate rather than a fixed promise, and the schedule may change as the game evolves with player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to grow SoundStone into a broader, more polished creative sandbox with additional architectural families and ornaments, expanded terrain and stepwell tools, richer musical and cymatic behaviours, more materials and lighting options, improved tutorials and accessibility, stronger performance, and better ways to save, revisit, and share creations. Plans may evolve in response to development and community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build is a playable single-player creative sandbox. Players can draw walls and raised regions, place stairs, gateways, arcades, walkways, stepwells, and resonant seed structures, tune materials and lighting, create reactive music, undo and redo edits, save and load creations, and follow an introductory tutorial. As an Early Access build, it may contain bugs and areas that still need polish.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“SoundStone will launch in Early Access at a lower price. We may raise the price as substantial new content and polish are added, including when the game leaves Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to use Steam Discussions and player feedback to learn which tools feel most expressive, where the interface is unclear, and which architectural, musical, and material options players most want next. Reports and requests will help us prioritize fixes and updates, and we will share progress through Steam update notes.”

About This Game

Build a temple that sings

SoundStone is a meditative building sandbox where every line becomes both architecture and music. Draw directly onto a living stone plate, then watch walls, raised courtyards, stairs, gateways, and elevated walkways grow from your plan.

Build compact sanctums or sprawling temple precincts. Raise and lower regions, link separate courts with walkable arcades, open routes through gateways, and reshape the same plan as your ideas evolve.

Architecture becomes an instrument

The geometry that shapes the site also shapes its sound. Retune walls, place resonant structures, and discover how proportion, route, pitch, and light turn each construction into a playable composition.

Shape every site

  • Draw walls and close them into raised courtyards.
  • Connect high regions with generated walkways, supports, and gateways.
  • Add entrance stairs and create processional routes through the site.
  • Build vertically and open individual bays as arcades.
  • Carve stepwells and quarry halls when a design calls for depth.
  • Tune structures into scales, consonance, and evolving musical patterns.
  • Choose golden or red sandstone, white marble, weathered granite, Deccan basalt, Hoysala soapstone, or laterite.
  • Change lighting moods without changing your plan.
  • Experiment with undo, redo, save, load, and a guided building tutorial.

SoundStone is being developed in Early Access with an expanding construction sandbox, deeper musical behaviours, and continued visual and usability polish.
