What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“TALES UNFOLD is a two-player cooperative puzzle game in which each player explores a different space and works together to solve puzzles. We believe that puzzle difficulty, clarity, and the overall co-op experience can be refined most effectively through feedback from real players.
During Early Access, we plan to use player feedback to improve puzzle flow and difficulty, controls and usability, and to refine the quality of additional stories and stages as development continues.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect TALES UNFOLD to remain in Early Access for approximately 6 to 12 months. This is our current estimate, and the timeline may change depending on development progress and player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full release, we plan to further refine puzzle flow and difficulty, controls, and quality-of-life features based on feedback received during Early Access. We also plan to expand the game with additional stages and puzzles inspired by new Korean folktales and locations.
Specific content and scope may change during development based on production needs and player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core two-player co-op gameplay and puzzle systems connecting the 2D and 3D spaces are currently playable. Players explore different spaces, share clues, and solve puzzles in which actions on one side can affect the other.
As development continues, we are refining the puzzles and stages, presentation and art, controls, and overall usability.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Early Access price will reflect the amount of content available at that stage of development. As the game grows in content and polish, the price may be adjusted, and it may increase for the full release. We will communicate any planned price changes in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to collect bug reports and feedback about the gameplay experience through the Steam Community and our official community channels. In particular, we will review feedback on puzzle difficulty and clarity, friction in the co-op experience, controls, and usability as we continue development.
We also plan to communicate major updates and changes regularly throughout Early Access.”

About This Game

Solve One Story Across Two Worlds, Inside and Outside the Folding Screen

TALES UNFOLD is a two-player online co-op puzzle adventure inspired by Korean folklore.

Each player explores a different space, solving clues and interacting with mechanisms in their own world.
Something one player discovers may become the key to the other’s puzzle, while a change in one world can ripple across the folding screen into the other.

Explore your own world, share what you discover, and work together to solve the puzzles that connect you.

Different Clues, One Answer

If you can’t find the answer on your side, try looking to the other.

Each world holds different clues and interactions. A trace discovered by one player may unlock the other’s puzzle, while solving a mechanism on one side can change what happens on the other.

Look closely, communicate, and act in your own world to piece together an answer scattered across both.

Describe what you see, notice what has changed, and work together from opposite sides of the screen.

A 3D Palace and a 2D Folding Screen, Two Worlds Connected

An immersive 3D palace on one side.
A world unfolding like a painting on the other.

In each stage, the two players take on different spaces and perspectives. As the tale changes, so do their roles inside and outside the folding screen. In one story, you may walk outside the painting. In another, you may step directly into it.

Move between 2D and 3D, inside and outside the folding screen, and experience puzzles from different perspectives.

Put the Tangled Folktales Back in Place

The stories inside the old book are no longer as they should be.

A fox appears where it doesn’t belong. Baby dokkaebi have lost their way. Characters and objects from different tales have become tangled together.

Each stage brings a new incident and a new set of puzzles inspired by Korean folklore.

Look. Touch. Move. Fit the pieces together.

Connect the clues scattered across both worlds and return each tangled tale to where it belongs.

Korean Tales, Unfolding Beyond the Screen

TALES UNFOLD reimagines old Korean folktales and the landscapes of an ancient storybook in its own way.

Familiar stories and creatures become tangled together, returning in unexpected forms.

And as each tale gradually finds its way back into place—

a new story shared by two players begins to unfold.
