About This Game

Raise an army. Teach it to think.

You are a necromancer who cannot attack directly. Your first followers are hollow shells: clumsy, unreliable, and running on instinct. Gather supplies, raise the fallen, found a settlement, and use your magic and upgrades to turn that struggling band into a force that can defend, patrol, and conquer on its own.

From scattered bones to a living realm

Gravebound Rising is a single-player necromantic colony simulation with real-time survival and army progression. Scavenge supplies, mine ore, harvest souls, and build the support your settlements need. Provision Yards feed recruitment, wards extend your territory, and commanders lead their own troops while remaining tied to their home towns.

Your army's intelligence is part of the progression. Develop Soul Bindings, Tactical Brain, Raid Doctrine, and Settlement AI. Improve obedience, unlock orders, strengthen defenders, and give commanders the authority to launch autonomous raids. Fully develop Raid Doctrine and unlock The Last March to send your strongest eligible commanders on continuing conquest campaigns.

Rival kingdoms have their own ambitions

  • Iron Dominion Dwarves develop fortified settlements and seek resources.
  • Ashfang Orcs favor aggressive raids and attack approaches.
  • Verdant Brood Goblins answer to rival chiefs. Independent camps can fight each other, and a conquering chief can absorb another camp and use its surviving structures.
  • Sunward Seraphs field a hostile holy army and direct their campaigns against rival kingdoms and your undead realm.
  • Silverwood Elves favor woodland and ranged forces. They are hostile to other factions, while developed elven kingdoms can unite with one another.

Enemy settlements develop over time, recruit stronger forces, and send warbands across the realm. Late-game settlement returns seek new positions with room to muster, weighing resources, allies, and hostile neighbors. You are building in a world that keeps moving.

Make every realm count

Build your way through Easy, Normal, and Hard, then unlock the escalating Gravebound ladder. Return to earlier unlocked difficulties when you want a different pace. Earn Legacy progression across runs, develop named commanders and their retinues, and chase both your highest run score and your overall score.

To conquer the realm, put every enemy settlement on its respawn cooldown at the same time. Your victory is a race to finish the war before a rival returns.

  • Optional guided introduction on Easy and Normal, plus an in-game Help menu and Feature Map.
  • Smooth camera zoom, interface scaling, adjustable music and hit feedback, and optional play while tabbed out.
  • Steam achievements and Steam Cloud saves.

Explore, discover hidden mechanics, and find the advantages that fit your style. Start with a dumb skeleton army. Build something worth fearing.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Gravebound Rising contains fantasy violence and dark themes centered around death and necromancy. Players fight and kill human, undead, and monstrous enemies using weapons, magic, and summoned undead. Combat may include blood, corpses, death animations, and other stylized depictions of violence.

Corpses and death are a core part of gameplay, as players can use necromancy to raise fallen enemies and build an undead army. The game also features dark environments, skeletal and undead creatures, graveyards, occult imagery, and themes involving death and the supernatural.

The game does not contain sexual acts, sexual assault, or non-consensual sexual content. It does not prominently depict drug or alcohol abuse or self-harm.
