About This Game

Someone signed a contract with your name on it, and now you're fighting in the arena. Getting out is only the start.

The Last Contract is a first-person action RPG set in a stylized, hand-crafted world. It's meant to be somewhere you actually stop and look around, so it doesn't rush you. When a fight does start, though, it's a proper one. Combat runs on stamina, and you can use swords, bows and magic without having to pick just one. You play as a human or an orc, and people treat the two differently. Some are wary of an orc, some are openly rude about it.

There's a hub town, and from there you head out to separate, hand-built levels. Each has its own enemies and factions, and most end in a boss fight that plays by that level's rules. Some bosses you fight head-on, others you can get around if you notice how. Quests remember what you did, who you sided with and who you let live.

There's no skill point menu. You get better at what you actually do: swing a sword enough and your Strength goes up, shoot enough arrows and your aim gets steadier. Taking hits toughens you up too, whether you like it or not. You can watch it all tick up on screen as it happens.

Key Features

  • Stylized PBR world, hand-crafted and made to be explored.

  • Stamina-based combat with melee, bows and magic. Mix them however you like.

  • No point-buy leveling. Your stats and skills go up from what you do in fights.

  • Enemy variety keeps growing as you go, with archers and casters as well as melee.

  • Seven mastery skills: One-Handed (swords & axes), Daggers, Blunt (hammers & maces), Greatswords, Block, Archery and Magic. There's also a hidden Necromancy skill if you go looking for it.

  • Play as a human or an orc. The world reacts differently to each.

  • This is not an open world. It's a hub town connected to separate, hand-built levels.

  • Boss fights with their own mechanics. Some you win by fighting, some by being clever.

  • Quests branch, and NPCs react to what you've done.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

English isn't my first language, so I use AI to help write the game's text, from dialogue and quests to item descriptions and names. I design the story, the characters and how they interact, and I keep a voice guide for every NPC. Lines go back and forth between me and the AI, often several times, until they fit the story and the voice I'm after, and nothing ships without my sign-off. All artwork, including the key art, logo and icons, was drawn by hand by a human illustrator. I assembled the world map from licensed 2D art assets.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

The game opens with your character imprisoned in a brutal gladiatorial arena: expect stylized combat violence and blood from the very first scenes. Corrupt officials and fellow prisoners gamble on the fights, and there's a side path involving stolen wine. A darker path involving necromancy and the undead also unfolds later in the game. Similar tones continue throughout.
