Windward Isles is a sun-drenched age-of-sail sandbox. Take the wheel of your own ship, run cargo between ten living harbours, fight off corsairs with thundering broadsides, and climb from a lowly deckhand to the sea's highest honour — the Windward Sovereign.

No timers, no fail states rushing you along. Chart your own course across a crystal-clear ocean and make your fortune however you please.

A living sea to trade

• Eighteen goods across ten harbours — buy low where they're made, sell dear where they're craved. Prices drift day to day, shortages spike, festivals lift a whole port.
  
• The market lives and breathes — no harbour deals in everything, and as the isles prosper the docks carry ever more variety. Rare luxuries like amber, ivory and ambergris only surface as your voyage matures.
  
• Read the trade winds — hover any good for a trade card telling you where it sells highest and what the run is worth. Warehouses, harbour investments, moneylenders and insurance all deepen the game.

Eight ships, thundering broadsides

• Sail your way up the fleet — from a nimble Cutter to a mighty Man-o'-War. Every hull on the market is a little different; the grandest ships-of-the-line are laid down only at the great fortress capitals.
  
• Broadside combat — fire port and starboard, cycle round, chain and grape shot, and unleash combat skills: a bursting mortar, a double broadside, a rigging-shredding chain volley, or brace and mend.
  
• Board and plunder — batter a raider below a third of her hull, then board her for cargo and gold — or send her off to sail in your own prize fleet for daily dividends.

A world with a memory

• The Royal Navy and the Brotherhood both keep score of your deeds — smuggling contraband pleases one and angers the other.
  
• Story contracts, bounties, treasure maps and escort runs — and named corsair captains who come hunting as your fortune grows.
  
• Play it your way — Relaxed, Standard or Cutthroat, plus a Peaceful mode with no enemies at all for pure, calm trade-sailing.
