Why Early Access?

“The Final Witness is launching in Early Access to allow the community to help shape its future while receiving regular content updates. The core gameplay experience is fully playable, but we plan to expand the game with new rooms, characters, investigations, Special Story Scenarios, gameplay improvements, and additional features based on player feedback.

The Final Witness is being developed by a small team of two. Gamalone handles the game's development, design, visuals, audio, story, and creative direction, while Omarium serves as Lead Programmer, bringing the game's systems and mechanics to life. Together, we are committed to progressing development as efficiently as possible while giving each part of the game the time and attention needed to deliver a polished and enjoyable experience.

Our goal is to deliver the best detective horror experience possible while involving the community throughout development.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect The Final Witness to remain in Early Access for approximately 8 months, although this is an estimate rather than a fixed timeframe. The game will remain in Early Access until the planned content and features have been developed and polished to a standard we are satisfied with. Development will continue through major updates shaped by community feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version includes the core detective experience, featuring a fully playable haunted mansion, randomized investigations, and handcrafted Special Story Scenarios. During Early Access, we plan to expand the game with additional rooms, characters, investigations, Special Story Scenarios, gameplay improvements, and quality-of-life updates based on community feedback. We also plan to introduce online modes as development progresses, expanding the ways players can experience The Final Witness. Our goal is to continue expanding the game's content while delivering a more polished overall experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version includes the core gameplay experience of The Final Witness. Players can explore the haunted mansion, investigate randomized murder cases, search for clues, analyze evidence, and identify the true killer while experiencing psychological horror and supernatural events. The game also features handcrafted Special Story Scenarios, optional activities throughout the mansion, and unlockable minigames. While the core experience is fully playable, additional content, gameplay improvements, and quality-of-life updates are planned throughout Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently do not plan to change the game's price after Early Access. However, if the scope of the game changes significantly during development, we may review our pricing in the future.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We believe the best detective experiences are built with player feedback. Throughout Early Access, we'll regularly monitor and engage with the Steam Community forums, listening to bug reports, gameplay suggestions, feedback, and discussions about the game.

Community feedback will help us refine existing mechanics, prioritize quality-of-life improvements, improve investigations and gameplay balance, and help guide the development of future content and features. While the overall vision of The Final Witness will remain with the developer, player experiences and suggestions will play an important role in shaping how the game improves and evolves throughout Early Access.”

About This Game

The Story

A once-prestigious family inherits an old mansion, hoping to restore it and build a better future. As financial struggles, buried secrets, and personal conflicts begin to tear them apart, tragedy strikes.

But the truth is never the same twice.

Each investigation presents a different version of the family's downfall. A different family member becomes the victim. A different suspect becomes the killer. Even the cause of death changes, creating a brand-new mystery every time.

When unexplained paranormal events prevent the local police from continuing their investigation, the case is handed over to a paranormal detective... You.

Unlike the randomized investigations, these are handcrafted, fully scripted mysteries with fixed victims, killers, motives, clues, and outcomes.

Successfully solving a Special Scenario rewards you with the complete story behind the murder. Each one tells its own self-contained mystery.

Supernatural forces lurk in the shadows, distorting reality and testing your sanity as you search for answers.
