About This Game

Your ranch runs across the top of the screen. The lane runs across the bottom. Up top you build a production line — spawn pens, belts, berry feeders, Element Baths, trainers and groupers — that breeds and buffs monsters. Down below, those monsters hold the wall against the shadow waves pouring out of the rift.

Everything you build up top is something that walks down there and fights. Throughput is power.

  • 65 breedable species across ten tiers, grown from four starters through a 61-recipe breeding tree.
  • Four elements — Ember, Frost, Terra and Volt. The bath a monster walks through is the monster you get.
  • Element Baths, feeders, trainers, groupers and belts that buff whatever rides past them. The route is the build.
  • Deaths are permanent. Anything that falls in the lane is gone, and the line has to make up the difference.

Between rounds you get the next wave's composition in advance, and time to rebuild against it. Then you hit START and find out whether you were right.

  • Wave previews so every retool is a real decision, not a guess.
  • A prize every round — 54 perks, drafted three at a time, rerollable.
  • 36 research nodes across four branches — Production, War, Economy and Ranching — banked in essence.
  • The Forge. Bosses drop rare parts and villains drop more; spend them on mods and marvels that buff everything passing by.
  • Rift debris and sabotage fouling your board — pay essence to clear it, or build around it.

The campaign is three fifteen-round hunts, each ending with the warlord behind it stepping through the rift in person: Vexar, King of the Rift; Glorp, the Crown of the Ooze; and Mother Mycel, who owns the last round of all. Between them come the Umbral Titan on the fifth-round bell, the Gravetide Empress on her tide of the drowned dark, Vexar's Nightmare Shepherd, and Gloop Prime — the heir that splits.

  • A 45-round campaign, then 100 rounds of Endless if the line still holds.
  • Three difficulty modes — Cozy Rancher, Rancher and Nightmare Shift.
  • Penny's Goal Board — 18 run goals, each paying essence.
  • 30 achievements and a full bestiary that fills in as you meet what's in the dark.

Gold survives defeat. Every run you bank it and come back to a stronger farmstead: 21 permanent upgrades across three tiers — more starting essence, thicker walls, wider gates, extra lane doors, a better-stocked wagon at Rikka's, and a Breeder Bot that works your pens while you fight. Your collection carries over too. Every creature you ever bred is still in the barn.

Every species, machine, boss and shadow is hand-authored pixel art at a crisp 640x360, built in Godot 4. The original soundtrack runs twelve tracks with an in-game jukebox.
