About This Game

You are the cellarer, the monk answerable for provisioning the whole monastery.

With nothing to start from but a cloister and its lay brothers, you will clear the land around it to raise workshops, lay paths, and see that every part of the monastery gets what it needs.

Every cart matters. Every path matters. Every decision shapes the future of your monastery.

A Free Demo Coming Soon

Discover the first tier of The Cellarer in a free demo.

Manage your first lay brothers, set up your production chains, keep the food coming, and grow your monastery until your first great edifice stands complete: the belfry.

The demo holds the whole of the Tier I content, and it will be on Steam soon.

Logistics Down to the Last Detail

Paths are not simple connections.

Every lane runs one way, every junction forces a choice, and it falls to you to keep congestion off the board. Every cart is pulled by a lay brother, and that brother must be housed and fed before he can work.

Your transport network is bounded by the workforce your monastery can support. As production grows, congestion becomes the real challenge: one blocked workshop, and your whole economy stands still.

Far More Than Production Chains

A monastery is far more than a collection of workshops.

The daily Offices must be supplied with candles and everything else the liturgy calls for. Offices well celebrated earn Prestige, which unlocks new production chains and the buildings that serve them. Faith and Parchment, for their part, let the Chapter adopt new customs: permanent improvements to your monastery, as well as new buildings of their own.

Build It Stone by Stone

Most buildings go up instantly.

Great edifices follow an altogether different course.

Stone, timber and the other materials travel a dedicated construction network before each stage of the work can begin. From the belfry to the cathedral, every monument rises by degrees on the effort of your entire economy.

An Interface Built for Management

Rather than hide information behind a mass of menus, The Cellarer gathers it into an interface modelled on modern development environments.

Production, logistics, storage, transport and construction stay visible at all times, so that complex systems can be read quickly and optimized to good effect.

Features

  • Build and expand a medieval monastery.

  • Design a path network where traffic and congestion shape your whole economy.

  • Raise great edifices, up to a cathedral, stone by stone.

  • Master your entire economy through a modern IDE-inspired interface.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some parts of the Cellarer were made with the help of generative AI tools: portions of the source code, some of the in-game icons, some store and marketing text, and some marketing artwork and assets were AI-assisted, then reviewed, edited and integrated by hand before shipping. The game itself contains nothing live-generated — no AI runs while you play, and the game never connects to an AI service.
