The parish is dead, and the bell must be kept. A grim folk-horror survivors-like: hold a plague-dead churchyard from the first toll to matins, with eight violent rites drawn from grave-craft and a night that changes as worse things answer the bell.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“KNELL's core night is complete and heavily playable - a full run, all eight rites and evolutions, both Tolling Ones, endless mode, and meta progression. Early Access is how we tune it against thousands of keepers instead of three, and how the parish grows: new maps (the church nave, the cellar beneath), new rites, and new dead are designed and coming, and we want the community ringing the bell while they land.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Six to twelve months. We would rather leave when it's ready than when the calendar says.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“More grounds to hold (the nave and the cellar are designed, with their own dead and dressing), additional rites and relics, more keepers, and balance shaped by Early Access play. The core night you buy today is the finished shape of the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Complete and stable: the full 20-minute night with all content listed on this page, endless mode, three keepers, the Reliquary meta layer, full controller support with rumble, a floating virtual joystick so the whole game plays by mouse alone, and a native Linux build.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will not change when we leave Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The parish keeps a Discord (linked on this page) where playtests are called, balance is argued, and dev notes are posted from the belfry. Every patch note is a bell toll. We read everything.”

About This Game

The parish is dead. The bell must be kept.

You are the last keeper of a plague-dead parish. Each night you ring the passing bell for the dead, as the office demands — but the bell has begun calling something back. Now every night is a vigil: survive from the first toll until matins, twenty minutes of dark, and everything in it wants your candle out.

What the night holds

  • The bell keeps time. Every minute it tolls, and every toll calls worse dead. Elites at the fifth and fifteenth; at the tenth and the last, the Tolling Ones — things the bell named directly.
  • Rites turned violent. Eleven weapons drawn from grave-rites and sexton's tools: the censer, the salt ring, coffin nails, holy water, a corpse-candle sent out hunting, the knell itself. Pair a rite with its matching relic and it evolves into something the parish never sanctioned.
  • The night changes, not just hardens. Early dead fade to chaff as new silhouettes answer. Past the fifteenth toll, the churchyard floods — walls and rings of hundreds.
  • Your candle is your life. Health is the Wick; damage gutters it. Souls of the slain drift as vigil lights — gather them, lay them to rest, grow stronger.
  • Fall, and the night still pays. Ash swept from the churchyard buys permanent restoration in the Reliquary: eleven relic tracks to deepen, six keepers to bring out of the dark — each holding the bell a different way — and a longer fuse for the next vigil.
  • Press on into the dark. Survive to dawn and you may keep walking. The endless dark compounds without mercy. Every endless run ends — how far is up to you.
