What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

Before you purchase or read, it is important that you consider this before deciding if you want to support Warcube this early:

Warcube is an incomplete game that is in PRE-alpha!

Warcube will be in Early Access on Steam so that I can get it into the hands of players as soon as possible. So that Warcube can be the best hero-cube-medieval-action-adventure-slow-motion game. Wait, I’m not even sure if that’s a genre.

But seriously, the game is not yet done, the game is in a PRE-alpha state. Which means there will be bugs, it will crash, there will be some performance issues for some players, and some gameplay features and locations will be unfinished. But no worries, I’m here! And I’m working hard on it. Let’s be friends!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I've estimated that Warcube will be in Early Access for around a year and a half(until Q2/3 2018). Totally subject to change!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will probably differ from Early Access in a few ways. From a sheer quantity standpoint it will have much, much MORE

  • Places to explore & conquer.
  • Equipment to use.
  • Enemies to destroy.
  • Extra game modes.
  • Explosions.
  • Easter Eggs.

As well as more optimization, features, and polish too!

It's possible that the final release of Warcube will not play out exactly as it did in the Early Access version. Saves might not carry over all the way through either, though I will definitely try to make them! :)”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Many of the core systems are in place at varying degrees of complexity. There’s a portion of the overall map currently available to explore and with every big update, I’m going to release more sections of it.

Although I WILL let you explore some work in progress locations that will be clearly marked.

But the game is fully playable. You can fight, get money, explore and conquer, just like the basis for real life! What's next though is not only the most time intensive part of building the game, but also the riskiest in terms of development without community input. It's the world building, the giant content crunch!

Gotta also mention, it's way more fun to work on this part of the game with community input :)”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The initial Early Access price will be the lowest price a person with be able to get the game. As new content and features are added the price will gradually rise to match that value.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“This is always tricky, because ultimately a community will involve itself in whatever it finds the most value in. While as a game creator, I might value something totally different! That being said, my hope is that the community is able breath inspiration into the epic scenarios our brave Warcube will find themselves in, and offer clever personal input, that I'm able to act on.

BATTLE EDITOR! (TABS/Ancient Warfare style!) - 0.4.0

Full of all sorts of fun little sneak peeks, mainly from this update! :D

I'm super pumped to introduce the BATTLE EDITOR! I've been having a blast building it, and better yet, playing it :D It's been a very busy past month, inbetween building this editor I've ALSO been planning out our next move :) our year of living rural has come to an end, and we're now scoping out where to move to next. Just wanted to say thank you again for all your support, Warcube is going strong thanks to YOU! :)

Also, just a little sneak peek! Warcube's base price will be going up soon, nothing too drastic, but I feel the development has progressed enough that I feel comfortable that it's worth more, I'll probably do a sale soon, so keep an eye out for any friends that haven't gotten it yet ;)

0.4.0 - 10/17/2018

Okay so really everything under here deals with the battle editor, so just enjoy the GIFS :P

Scroll to increase unit block size
Still placing units by hand? BOOORING. Place a row or two!

Change Biomes
Use the menu at the far right to change biomes, currently theres:
  • Highlands
  • Snowdrift
  • Desert
  • Island

Water you waiting for?
Just add water in the scene options, raise and lower the height to find interesting playing fields :D

Snap what you got
Use the snapping editor (top left) to place things at nice intervals.

Then Lock it
You can also lock certain groups of objects so they don't get deleted. Just click the matching icon for them on the top left. For instance,if you place walls, and only want to delete your 100 archers ON them, but the not walls... just lock your environment.

Unit Orders
Clicking on units will cycle through their orders: Attack, Guard, Hold Position.

Slow/Fast Motion
Slow down or speed up the battle, and get rad views like this :P spawning in as the player is totally optional!

A battle from the air, such beauty :P

I've been experimenting with adding faces... thoughts?

Locations, Siege Ladders/Bridges! - 0.3.2v0

New Beta Locations!
There's 3 new beta locations, all at varying degrees of done-ness :) if you can't tell already, my goal is loosely block in locations for a whole area of the map. One thing that I've found difficult with the Old Kingdom area, is how every few locations I'd create some new feature for the game, and suddenly certain locations are obsolete, or need a redesign :/ I'm hoping that by iteratively completing zones of the map, this will make that less jarring AND allow for better early feedback :D

Beta Feedback Info!
If you're not sure how to enable Beta Location mode, check it out HERE! and be sure to send me feedback either through the feedback towers, on DISCORD or via the online feedback form here!

Well what to say :) it's officially been a year since I moved to where we are now (literally the middle of nowhere). It's been a year of ups and downs, living rural has been a lot of fun when its warm out, but when its cold and you've got a kid thats learning to walk... not so much :P this update is a little late because I've also been prepping my portfolio for another move somewhere, though we're not quite sure where yet ><

0.3.2v0 - 08/27/2018

New Update Cards!
Shoutout to Dartel for mocking these up a couple months back :D I think they're super slick :) I've got a video codec bug to fix, then after that should be rockin! :D

Siege Ladders
Now you can build siege ladders! They're not the most expensive (or sturdy). But if you mass 'em, then you can probably get some units up on the walls :D

Siege Bridges
Also introducing siege bridges! Perfect for moats or detached towers :)

  • MAP - fixed flycam to now aim with MMB, little wonky still ;)

  • MAP, army units clip through map.
  • CAM, clipping with tall structures + buildings.
  • Arena Mode under construction again

Cool GIF I took of the late rendering process for the Viking Village Icon I thought you guys would like :D

Bottom Paragraph!
Well, its been a bittersweet past couple weeks for me. Realizing that it's been a year since we moved here has been strange. I guess I just realize how MUCH can get done in a year, as well as how little sometimes? But I know thats life :) and there's been some weeks where I feel SO busy and gotten a ton done, and other weeks where I've ALSO been very busy... but feel restless by the end of it feeling like I haven't accomplished anything. Thanks for sticking with me, and helping improve this little game :) it's been a blast :D

“The first time you dash-attack a Warcube foe, then slow time down to nail an arrow attack while bouncing in mid-air off your first attacker, will leave you changed as an action gamer.”
Ars Technica (preview)

“That game wasnt too bad... that warcube game... It was kinda cool”

“Even at this early stage, Warcube's fighting finds that balance between being easy to control while feeling effortless to accomplish satisfying feats.” (preview)

About This Game

WARCUBE is all about the combat.

It’s viciously intense, subtly tactical, and geometrically satisfying. Inspired by games such as Shadow of Mordor, Assassins Creed and Mount & Blade. But with more... cubes.

You've returned home after being on holiday for 3,729 years.

  • Be transformed from a Human, into a Warcube.
  • Capture outposts and explore the world's secrets.
  • Find treasures lost in ages past, as well as things not so treasured...
  • Launch yourself from catapults, to go places you probably ought not to. This is a physics based game in Early Access after all...

While playing you may experience
  • Dynamic slow motion and speed ramping, similar to 300, but with cubes.
  • Highly realistic cube physics...very complex stuff.
  • A multitude of arrows being shot at you, as well as swords, axes and spears waved in your direction.
  • Extreme combo kills in slow motion to make you look your best.

Never has there been a game with this many cubes, that wasn't a Minecraft knockoff.
These cubes were made for battle, not building.
