Wallpaper turns your Windows desktop into a living surface. Not a video on loop:
these are scenes that read your hardware in real time. Your graphics card heats up

  • Network speed, up and down, and the active adapter
  • The audio coming out of your speakers — spectrum and waveform
  • The real icons and windows on your desktop
  • Clock, date and uptime
288 of the wallpapers listen to audio, 203 read the processor, 192 the graphics
card, 189 memory, 175 the disks, 89 the network, and 38 read your actual desktop
icons.

Tune everything, without writing code

Every wallpaper exposes its own settings panel — 5,500+ settings across the
library. Colour, speed, density, which data source drives which effect. Save your
tuning as a preset. Each monitor can run a different wallpaper with different
settings, and your layout survives cable swaps because settings are bound to the
monitor's hardware identity.

Your own photos and videos

Point it at a folder and every image or video inside — subfolders included — is
listed. Click one and it becomes the wallpaper of the selected monitor. Fit,
brightness, playback speed, volume, blur are all adjustable. Your files are never
copied and never moved; they stay exactly where they are.

Built to stay out of the way

Anyone can build one — there are no limits

The editor is the other half of this product. Open it and you are looking at plain
HTML, CSS and JavaScript with a live preview next to it. Save, and the wallpaper
reloads instantly. No build step, no account, no upload.

Everything the platform reads is one line away. Write
pw.subscribe('hw.gpu.temp', v => ...) and your scene knows how hot the
graphics card is. The same goes for the sound coming out of your speakers, memory,
disks, network, the clock, even the real icons on your desktop.

Don't write code? Describe the wallpaper you want to any AI assistant, paste the
JavaScript it gives you into the editor and press save. The API is small and
documented, and every one of the 600+ bundled wallpapers can be opened as a copy
and taken apart — the copy is yours, the original stays untouched.

The interface is fully translated into all 31 languages Steam supports. On first
run it follows your Windows language.

Everything stays on your machine

Wallpaper reads your hardware locally and shows it to you. There is no account, no
telemetry, and no network connection in the core product. Wallpapers run in an
isolated browser context that cannot reach your file system, cannot start
processes, and cannot reach the network unless a wallpaper declares it and you
approve it. Every permission is listed before you apply a wallpaper and can be
revoked at any time from the Permissions page.

Parts of this product were produced with the help of generative AI. The HTML, CSS, JavaScript and shader code of the bundled wallpapers, the store page text and its translations were drafted with AI assistance and reviewed by a person before release.

The application itself does not use generative AI at runtime. It generates no content while you use it, and nothing you do in Wallpaper — hardware readings, settings, your own photos and videos — is sent to any AI model or to any server. Everything stays on your PC.
