What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“POLYGON's core Arena mode is complete and has been extensively tested across a wide range of hardware, from high-end desktops to Steam Deck. The additional genre modes (vertical/horizontal shoot-'em-up, platformer) and their boss encounters are still evolving, and I want to balance them, expand their content, and refine their difficulty with real player feedback before calling them finished. Early Access lets me keep shipping new content, languages, and accessibility options based on what the community actually wants, instead of guessing in isolation.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I expect Early Access to last around 3-6 months. The core Arena mode is already stable, so the remaining time is mainly for balancing and expanding the genre modes and boss fights based on player feedback, not building the game from scratch.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The core Arena mode and its full enemy/boss/item roster are already in the Early Access version. For the full version, i plan to expand and further balance the additional genre modes (vertical/horizontal shoot-'em-up, platformer) and their boss encounters based on community feedback, add more enemy and item variety, and continue refining accessibility. The overall scope stays focused on POLYGON's core arcade-shooter loop — Early Access is about polishing and completing what's already there, not adding unrelated systems.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Arena mode is complete, stable, and has been extensively tested across a wide range of hardware — from a high-end RTX 4090 desktop to Steam Deck and low-power mini-PCs — running smoothly at each device's target framerate. It includes the full enemy and boss roster, item system, and an in-game guide covering every enemy, boss, and item. The additional genre modes (vertical/horizontal shoot-'em-up, platformer) are playable but still receiving balance and content passes.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes — the price will increase slightly once the game leaves Early Access, to reflect the additional content and polish added during this period.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan to actively read and respond to feedback in the Steam Community Hub — bug reports, balance feedback on enemies/bosses/genre modes, and requests for accessibility or language support all directly influence what gets prioritized next. Early Access exists specifically so these decisions can be shaped by how people actually play the game, not just internal assumptions.”

About This Game

POLYGON ARCADE

A neon vector shooter built like a coin-op cabinet that never stopped running. Wired outlines, hot glow, a CRT screen that hums — dodge, blast, and chase the high score across an arcade cabinet's worth of modes.

Start in the Arena, where waves of red squares escalate into berserker swarms and full-blown boss fights. When you need a change of pace, drop into VShmup/HShmup for classic vertical or horizontal shoot-'em-up runs, flip into Jumprun for platforming action, or hold the line in Wave Mode, a tower-defense-style survival grind against endless waves.

Features:

- 4 game modes — Arena, Shmup (vertical & horizontal), Platformer, and Wave Mode survival

- Unique boss encounters with distinct attack patterns and reward drops

- Local 2-player multiplayer, including splitscreen support

- Full controller support with Xbox/PlayStation-aware button prompts and 3 preset layouts

- 4 difficulty levels, from a weapon-free Super Easy up to Hard

- Genuine CRT shader, adjustable glow, brightness, and supersampling — tune the retro look exactly how you want it

- Steam leaderboards & achievements to chase

- 14 languages supported out of the box

- Epilepsy warning included — this is a bright, flashy, high-contrast game and we say so up front
