About This Game

A WAR YOU FIGHT AND COMMAND

Phosphor Command puts you in charge of a company in a world consumed by war. Take contracts from brokers to fund your operation and your forward operating base. You have one task: survival.

You'll deploy squads on tactical operations, research and upgrade technology and aspects of your FOB, run an economy that's always one bad cycle from collapse, and hold back an enemy front that advances whether you're ready or not.

There's no respite between "base builder" and "tactics gameplay". Each decision bleeds from the last and impacts how capable your operations are or how defended your FOB is.

DEPLOY SQUADS TO RUN OPERATIONS FOR CONTRACT PAY

Operations play as strategic top-down combat. Command squads, traverse terrain, and complete objectives in real time.

Contract operations are generated randomly: map, objective, and opposition.

  • 11 operation types: raids, assassinations, extractions, sabotage, convoy interception, and more

  • 22 operation environments, from dense forest to airbases to mountains

  • 5 unit types to choose from, each with a different role in the field

  • Choose your vehicle for each mission: car, truck, helicopter, or plane. It decides squad capacity, travel time, and how your troops enter the fight.

  • Squads gain experience and become named veterans. Lose one, and it's permanent. No revives, no reloads to undo it.

  • Every mission earns money and pushes the front back.

YOUR FOB

It's a place you walk around with your troops, watch grow, and defend.

  • Start with a bare compound and a couple of squads, and build outward: barracks, transportation, research labs, a manned front line, eventually a great deal more.

  • Upgrades and buildings appear physically on the base. Growth is visible and rewarding.

  • Manage it up close as a walking commander, or pull back to a management overview.

DETAILED CAMPAIGN

Play through specific story missions that drive your company and its motivations forward.

  • An optional mode for a more story-driven experience, separate from skirmish and freeplay. Inside the campaign you can still take randomly generated operations whenever you want.

  • Learn where the contracts originate, which masters are handing them down, and what they're setting you up for.

  • Intel hints at the world you're operating in, and at how hard it is to change anything in it.

RESEARCH THAT CHANGES HOW YOU PLAY

The research tree unlocks new equipment, new facilities, and new options for how you approach an operation.

THE ENEMY DOESN'T STAND STILL

Enemy AI runs on an alert system.

  • Calm patrols tighten into alerted defense the moment they spot you.

  • Guards converge on contact. High-value targets relocate to deeper cover instead of standing where you expect them.

  • The threat escalates the longer you play; the enemy you're fighting progresses too.

SOONER OR LATER THEY COME TO YOU

Assaults on the FOB arrive on their own schedule. When one does, you fight it from the base you built.

  • Defense plays by its own rules. There's no ground to give, and nowhere to fall back to; you hold with what you put in the ground cycles ago and what you commit once it starts.

  • Fortifications and emplacements are only ever as good as the money you spent on them before you needed them.

  • Call in mortar fire on your own perimeter, or drop smoke to break up an assault that's about to reach the wall.

  • Hold squads back as reserves and commit them mid-assault. Squads lost defending the base are gone the same as squads lost in the field.

THE FRONT DOESN'T WAIT FOR YOU

Time moves in cycles, and the front creeps toward your base every one of them. It isn't a countdown to failure; it's ongoing pressure you manage: fortify it, hold it with a defense, or push it back with an operation. Ignore it, and it eventually arrives at your FOB.

COMMAND IT YOUR WAY

Phosphor Command is built to flex around how you like to play.

  • Three ways to play: the campaign for the story, freeplay for an open-ended run with no fixed story, or skirmish for one-off operations you size and scope yourself.

  • Pick your difficulty, or customise it to your preference.

  • Lean aggressive and race the front back, or turtle behind fortifications and grind the economy. Or find the balance in between.

THERE MAY BE A WAY OFF THIS PLANET

Hold the front long enough, and grow strong enough, and a different kind of project may become possible. What it is and what it costs is something you'll find out.
