About This Game

The public defender didn't show up. Now it's up to you to defend yourself.

Kid You Not! is an improvisation multiplayer party game about defending yourself against absurd accusations in front of a live courtroom. Every trial, one player takes the stand as the defendant while everyone else becomes judge and jury. Only the defendant knows the truth and it's up to the courtroom to figure out who is guilty and who isn't.

The Trial

Each match runs through a full sequence of trials, one per player, so everyone gets their turn. When you're on trial, you're handed a genuinely ridiculous accusation and have to talk your way out of it live, over voice chat.

Questions & Answers

The judge and jury aren't just spectators. While you defend yourself, they can request questions and you have to answer.

Voting & Verdicts

Once the defense ends, every juror and the judge cast a vote: Guilty or Not Guilty. The verdict is announced immediately, but whether it was actually the correct verdict stays hidden until the match is over, keeping every trial uncertain until the very end.

Allies and Enemies

Every match secretly assigns each player hidden allies and enemies among their fellow players. Help your allies get a favorable verdict and sabotage your enemies to get an unfavorable one. Even the judge isn't neutral, their own hidden relationships are on the line with every verdict they help decide.

Scoring

Points accumulate quietly behind the scenes after every trial, but the scoreboard stays hidden until the match ends. Nobody knows who's winning, who voted correctly, or who's been secretly sabotaging their rival the whole time — until the final reveal.

Emotional Expressions

Words aren't your only tool on the stand. At any moment during your defense, trigger exaggerated emotional animations — rage, panic, tears, false confidence, whatever the moment calls for — to sell your story harder than your voice alone ever could. The best trials aren't won by animations alone, but a perfectly-timed breakdown at exactly the right moment can turn a shaky alibi into a courtroom legend.

Make It Yours

Kid You Not! is built around configurable matches, not one fixed ruleset. Players can adjust how likely defendants are to actually be guilty, how many allies and enemies each player is assigned, whether the judge and jury are allowed to interrupt with questions, how long each defense lasts, and which of your hidden relationships get revealed at the start. Every group can tune the game to match exactly how chaotic they want their courtroom to be.
