About This Game

Giblings is a real-time brawler for up to six players in a destructible combat arena. Dig through the ground, raise new ground of your own, and swing across it all on a grappling hook. Inspired by the 1998 game Liero.

Combat Arenas

Giblings comes with six hand-built maps, each designed to play a little differently. Some are made of floating platforms, with plenty of grappling and mid-air fighting. Others are packed with destructible soil, letting you tunnel through the map and fight underground. You'll also have to deal with hazards like lava, acid and deep water.

Pick your favourite in a custom game, or let the game choose for you. Check the screenshots for a look at some of the maps.

Multiplayer

Play Deathmatch, Elimination, Battle Royale or Zombie Horde, either free-for-all or in teams.

Jump into 1v1, 2v2, 3 player Co-Op or up to 6 player free-for-all, or create a custom game and split up to six players however you like. Go 3v3, mix players and bots, or try 5v1 if you think you're good enough.

Battle Royale is a bit like Worms' "Sudden Death" mode, with water, acid or lava rising at regular intervals to keep everyone moving. And yes, there are sharks in the water too, because why not?

Zombie Horde is the co-op mode for up to three players. Pick Easy, Normal or Hard, or customise the zombie speed, health and numbers yourself and see if you can reach the kill target.

There are also themed weapon modes like Sniper War, Ninja Mode and Rockateers, which give everyone special loadouts and matching cosmetics. Fight with nothing but sniper rifles, go full ninja with katanas and shurikens, or strap on a jetpack and take the fight into the air.

You can combine these with any game mode too. Ninja Mode + Zombie Horde was a favourite with our beta testers.

Single Player

Can't find anyone online? Find Game can keep searching in the background while you play Single Player.

Bot Arena is Giblings multiplayer, minus the other humans. Set up a match, choose your map and fill the other slots with Easy or Hard bots. Bots have different play styles too. Some hang back and snipe, some hunt down injured players, while others just come swinging straight at you.

Basics Training is a quick introduction to movement, digging, building, combat and the grappling hook, all in the service of the very important task of rescuing a princess.

Weapons Training gives you the entire arsenal to mess around with, including rare weapons like the Flamethrower and Gravity Bomb. Spawn bots to practise on, or work your way through all 28 weapons and see what they do.

There's also a procedural map generator for single player. Generate islands surrounded by water, acid or lava, or underground caverns for a more classic Liero-style fight. Tweak the terrain yourself or leave it random and see what comes out. Find a good one? Save the seed and play it again later.

Weapons and loadouts

Build a loadout with up to ten weapons chosen from 21. Save a few different ones for different maps or play styles, and switch whenever you like. Your new loadout kicks in on your next life.

Then there are seven rare weapons. Things like the Flamethrower, Banana Bang and Bee Jar can drop during a match. They have their own rack, so they don't replace your normal weapons, and you can carry up to three at once.

Every weapon has limited ammo, but there's no running around looking for more. Put an empty weapon away and it'll reload itself after a short wait.

Yes, the bees reload too.

Customisable Giblings

Pick from four different Giblings, then make yours look suitably ridiculous.

Each one has their own set of cosmetic options, with different hair, headwear and other bits to choose from. You can change their colours too, so there should be no confusion over which Gibling just fell into the lava.

Support

Giblings is a solo project. If something is broken there is one person to tell, and he reads everything.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some of the the 2D artwork started as hand-drawn sketches and designs, which were then polished using AI tools, purely to improve the visual experience for the players. The resulting artwork was further refined by hand, with custom GPU effects such as forcefields, lighting and glints added afterwards.

The rest of the game's content, including the characters, animation, weapons, visual effects, sound and gameplay, is all hand-authored. Nothing is generated by AI during gameplay.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Giblings is a cartoon game with frequent violence and gore. Characters are dismembered and burst apart with visible red blood when killed, and this happens constantly during normal play. It is played for slapstick rather than realism, but the gore is not stylised away. There is no sexual content, no drug or alcohol use, and no depictions of self-harm or sexual violence.
