Why Early Access?

“As a student and solo developer, I’m launching NextBot PANIC! in Early Access because community creation is at the heart of this game. Since the game features full Steam Workshop support and custom Nextbot creation, I don't want the Workshop to be empty at full launch. I want players to jump in early, upload their cursed memes, test the procedural mazes with their friends, and help build a massive library of community content together. The core 1–8 player co-op chaos is ready, and now I want your ideas and feedback to shape the updates on the road to full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Estimated length: Roughly 6–12 months.
(This is an estimate and may change based on development progress, university schedule, and community feedback. I will provide regular updates throughout the journey.)”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Rather than following a rigid list, I want to leave much of the future content direction open to your ideas. Planned additions (subject to change) include:

New game modes for higher replayability (such as special Chaos modes or social deduction / "betrayal" modes where one player among you is secretly the Nextbot).

New room types, hazards, and themes for the procedural maze generator.

Additional usable items and tools to survive (or troll your friends) during chases.

More character customization options, cosmetics, and ways to make your survivor stand out.

Ongoing optimization, multiplayer stability improvements, and community-requested features.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access build is fully playable both solo and in 1–8 player co-op, currently including:

Complete core gameplay loop: procedural maze generation (with customizable wall/floor/ceiling textures), custom Nextbot creation from any image, and full Steam Workshop integration.

Playable content: 2–3 map themes/environments and 6–7 built-in Nextbots right out of the box (plus infinite possibilities via the Workshop).

Progression and customization: Loot crate system, unlockable cosmetics, and the in-game character painter ("Paint Your Survivor").

Known issues: Since this is a chaotic multiplayer game developed solo, there is currently limited variety in game modes and room types, and you may encounter occasional minor networking, collision, or AI pathfinding quirks. I plan to prioritize and fix these rapidly with your feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Joining during Early Access is the best time to grab the game! As new game modes, maze variations, and customization features are added throughout development, the price will likely increase slightly upon the full release to reflect the expanded content. Early supporters get the game at its lowest base price while helping shape its future.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As a solo student developer, your feedback isn't just helpful—it's everything. I want us to build this game together.
