About This Demo

Waste of Space The Beginning

The universe is ending. Mostly through paperwork.

This demo covers the opening stretch of Waste of Space: enough to get you through a full combat-into-cards loop, meet a handful of the crew, and start working out which way you'd like the galaxy to go.

What you'll actually do

Fight your way to the table. Turn-based tactical combat, position, cover, and a squad who are doing their best, which is not very good. Win, and you earn your seat at the table.

Build a deck out of liabilities. Cards are crew, ships and salvage rather than abstract numbers. Every one of them has a personality, and most of them are a problem.

Pick a side, eventually. The full game branches two ways: dismantle Earth's ruling authority from the inside, or push out toward Alpha Centauri and deal with what's waiting there. Here you'll learn about the starting point of that adventure.

What's in the demo

  • A complete tactical battle into card-table encounter loop

  • A slice of the crew, the writing, and the tone

  • Roughly 20–30 minutes, or longer if you poke at things

  • Progress doesn't carry to the full game — this is a taster, not a head start

Not a roguelike

Worth saying plainly: no permadeath, no randomised runs. It's a branching campaign — you unlock regions by clearing their neighbours, and you can go back and re-clear old missions for better ratings if that's your thing.

If you like it, wishlist the full game. It genuinely helps a solo projects like this be seen, and it's the only reason Steam will ever show this to anyone else.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Some language that might not be fit for pre-watershed television, mostly in the acronyms of agencies created to be parodies of failing-forward tech giants.
