What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“METEORITE already has a playable core game loop, but there is still substantial work to be done in expanding, balancing, and polishing the experience. Early Access gives us the opportunity to develop those systems alongside an active player community rather than making balancing and design decisions in isolation.

During Early Access, our goals are to expand the variety of planets, weapons, objectives, world events, progression systems, and other gameplay content; improve performance and stability; refine multiplayer balance; and respond to feedback about what is and is not working.
We are committed to continuing development throughout Early Access and working toward a complete, polished version of METEORITE.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect METEORITE to remain in Early Access for roughly 12 to 18 months. This is an estimate rather than a fixed release date, as development priorities may change in response to testing and player feedback.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to substantially expand on the Early Access build in both content and polish.
We plan to add more environmental and planetary variety, weapons and equipment, objectives, world events, progression and economy features, and additional ways for matches to develop differently from one another. We also plan to continue improving multiplayer balance, user interface and onboarding, audiovisual presentation, performance, stability, and general quality-of-life features.

The exact shape of individual systems may change during development as we test them with players, but our goal for the full release is a more varied, polished, and feature-complete version of the core experience available in Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“METEORITE currently provides a playable multiplayer match from beginning to end, including the core combat and movement systems, procedural planets, objectives, a selection of weapons and equipment, match victories, and earnable currency.

The Early Access version is playable, but it currently contains less content, variety, polish, balance, and progression than we intend for the full release. Players should also expect bugs, balance changes, and significant adjustments to some systems during development”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We expect the price of METEORITE to increase as the game grows in content and features during Early Access. The final price has not yet been determined, but we intend to keep the game priced appropriately for its scope as an independently developed title.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As a multiplayer game, player feedback is especially important to METEORITE's development. We plan to use feedback to help identify balance problems, bugs, usability issues, and features or areas of the game that could be improved.

Players can share feedback and feature suggestions through the METEORITE Steam Community Discussions. We also plan to post development updates through Steam and use community feedback to help inform our priorities throughout Early Access.”

About This Game

FIRST EVER PLANETARY SHOOTER

In METEORITE, an entire spherical planet is your playground. You arrive in a meteor hurling towards it.

Explore. Arm yourself. Become the predator before something else finds you.

There is no conventional shrinking circle and no invisible wall telling you where to go. The battle is shaped by the terrain, the players, and the planetary systems waiting to be activated. The planet is different each time, so you can never be sure what to expect. Choose your gear carefully.

DESCEND ANYWHERE

Survey the world from orbit and choose where to strike.

Land near alien ruins in search of powerful technology, disappear into the wilderness to gather supplies, or crash directly into contested territory and fight for control from the opening seconds.

Every landing is a decision. Every horizon is reachable. If you see a mountain, you can climb it.

SURVIVE A LIVING WORLD

Cross forests, deserts, frozen poles, mountains, canyons, bogs and abandoned extraterrestrial installations.

Search wreckage and ruins for weapons, equipment and rare artifacts. Hunt alien creatures. Track rival players across the landscape.... or avoid them until you are prepared to strike.

The planet is an unpredictable ecosystem that can turn against everyone on it.

WEAPONIZE THE CLIMATE

Four climate stations are scattered throughout the planet. Destabilize one and an entire region becomes inhospitable, forcing players to relocate. Activate all four, and the battleground moves to the final circle protected by a shield bubble.

UNFAIR BY DESIGN

Extract weapons, tools and exotic alien technology. Everything you extract becomes your load-out in the next match.

Utilize a diverse array of various weapons ranging from laser rifles, to alien rayguns... and repurposed mining equipment?

ESCAPE OR CONQUER

Extraction is always a choice.

Leave while you still possess something worth saving, or remain on the planet and risk everything for control of the world itself.

Successful expeditions expand your arsenal. Conquered planets become trophies of your victories and resources for the battles ahead.

Every world has something to take.

Not every world will let you leave.
