One thought to ascend, one thought to fall. A cultivation roguelike deckbuilder where six disciplines light up like auto-battler synergies: stack 3/6/10/15 cards of one school and become what you build. Join a sect, collect the lore, survive the Tribulation, then reincarnate and run again.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The core run loop and the launch content are complete and fully playable. What still needs real players is tuning: discipline balance, the Tribulation difficulty curve, and the design of future disciplines all depend on real deck-building data. A deckbuilder balanced behind closed doors drifts in the wrong direction.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan on roughly 12 to 18 months, adjusted to the pace of content updates.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version to recover more soul strands (new playable characters and new discipline axes), open higher Tribulation tiers, add more sect artifacts and elixir recipes, and expand the acts and endings. The Dao/Demon path choice is also planned.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build includes 2 playable characters, 6 disciplines, 264 technique cards, 20 Awakenings, 21 artifacts, 3 full acts, 5 boss fights, 29 enemy types, 18 chance encounters and one Tribulation tier. The main run can be completed start to finish, and the full sect / master / Mind Sea meta-progression is available.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase when the full version launches. Players who buy during Early Access will not pay anything extra.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The Steam Community discussions and reviews are our main channels. We are especially looking for feedback on discipline builds and the difficulty curve. Every update will come with an announcement explaining what changed and why.”

About This Game

One thought to Buddha, one thought to demon. A thousand years ago, the Onethought Immortal failed at the Gate of Heaven, and his soul shattered into seven strands scattered across the mortal world. You are one of them — reborn as a mortal, walking the cultivation path from your very first breath, to grasp the one thought he never did.

OneThought compresses the long arc of cultivation into a single roguelike deckbuilding run: stack disciplines and light resonances inside a run; join sects and gather lore between runs. Defeat is never zero — each fall pieces together one more fragment of the thousand-year-old truth, and your master in the sect still remembers your Daoist name.

What you stack is what you become

Every technique card belongs to a discipline: Swift Sword, Guarding Sword, Heavy Sword; Moon, Flame and Frost arts. Stack 3/6/10/15 cards of one discipline and its resonance tiers light up automatically — Initiate, Lesser, Greater, Perfection. No slotting, no activation: the moment a card joins your deck, your Dao takes shape. Satchel, Awakening and artifact all push the same axis — build like stacking synergies in an auto-battler. Six axes, and every run walks out a Dao of its own.

Three choices at the start, one timeline per run

Prepare three things before you descend: your Satchel — the sect restocks a fresh manifest for every journey; the more you learn, the deeper the pool, but what you carry depends on this manifest. Your Awakening — pick one to define this run's Dao, and when your discipline reaches Lesser resonance, your master's signature art awakens. Your artifact — sanctioned at the Forge Pavilion, one piece at your side. Awakening and signature-art cooldowns are not per battle — they count continuously across the whole run. What you overdraw in one fight, you keep paying in the next.

Swift swords build momentum, heavy swords hold the strike

Sword momentum accumulates across turns, unleashed in one burst at the moment you choose; the heavy sword charges, and one blow decides. Same swordsman, two rhythms of breath. The mage reads the wind in three arts — Moon, Flame, Frost — three more ways to fight.

Defeat is never zero: sect, master, Mind Sea

Grow your cultivation in the Technique Hall, receive artifacts at the Forge Pavilion, unlock elixir recipes at the Alchemy Pavilion. On the Sword-Trial Terrace, the Guarding Sword Elder calls you nothing but "you" — until the day he first speaks your Daoist name aloud. You will remember that day. The Mind Sea keeps four archives of everything you have ever held — techniques, artifacts, elixirs, the Moon Mirror. Anything unseen stays a "?", unlocked by playing, never by paying. Torn scrolls piece together the hidden cause of why the Heavens struck — and the verdict only flips at the final fragment.

Tribulation: clearing the game is not the end

Survive one Tribulation and a heavier one descends — stronger enemies, richer rewards. Within each act, pick your own route through normal, elite and gated trials; chance encounters only hint at their nature the first time. Their price and their fortune, you learn by walking through them.
