What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Horn & Dice is playable start to finish, but there's more we want to build with players before calling it done. We're expanding the game within our existing systems — new dice faces, status effects, enemies, events, potions, and bosses — and we want community feedback to shape which of these get prioritized, reworked, or cut. At the same time, balance is what makes a dicebuilder work: every reroll, every fight, every build needs to feel like a real, fair choice, so we need player data across many builds and skill levels to find what's too easy, too punishing, or too dominant. Along the way, we'll also be rolling out visual polish and quality-of-life improvements based on what players tell us.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Around 4 months, depending on player feedback and how long balancing takes to get right.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will build on our existing systems with new content shaped by what we learn during Early Access: new dice faces, status effects, enemies, events, potions, and bosses, all using mechanics that are already in the game rather than introducing new core systems. Which of these we prioritize, and how they're tuned, will depend heavily on community feedback: we're using player data and direct input from our community to decide which builds, fights, and content ideas are worth expanding versus cutting. Alongside that, we'll be rebalancing until fights and builds feel consistently fair, and rolling out visual polish and quality-of-life improvements throughout.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version contains the complete core gameplay loop and is fully playable from start to finish. Players can progress through 3 acts, each featuring 2 possible bosses, battle 36 unique enemies inspired by Slavic folklore, and create different builds by combining a variety of dice, artifacts, potions, and status effects.

The current version includes:

3 acts with 2 bosses available per act
36 enemies, each drawn from Slavic folklore with its own combat behavior
21 artifacts to reshape your build
16 potions to turn the tide mid-fight
19 mystery events with meaningful choices and consequences
27 die faces to build around
14 status effects”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Price stays the same at launch, no planned increase.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We'll be active in the Steam Discussions and our Discord server, reading bug reports, balance feedback, and suggestions directly from players. We're also running regular playtesting sessions with a close group of friends and trusted testers to catch issues early before wider changes go out. Player input, from the community and our testers alike, will directly shape how we tune and expand difficulty, dice, enemies, and builds throughout Early Access.”

About This Game

Horn & Dice is a dark folkloric roguelike where every battle is decided by the roll — and by what you do after it lands.

Forget cards. Your build is a set of dice, and every face is a choice. Roll your hand, then spend your rerolls wisely: lock in a solid strike, chase a bigger number, or gamble everything on one more throw.

Descend through three acts of a world steeped in Slavic myth, where the forest remembers old debts and the dead don't always stay buried. Face folklore given teeth — Domovoy jams your dice mid-fight so you can't lock in a reroll, Rusalka drags you under the water and strikes back at every blow you land, Baba Yaga curses your hand before her killing blow falls. Every enemy fights the way its legend says it should — bleeding wounds, choking curses, and retaliation baked into the roll itself.

Features

  • Dice-first combat — roll, reroll, resolve. Every decision changes the odds.

  • Every reroll is a gamble — better odds now, or hold your nerve for something greater.

  • Slavic folklore — creatures and events drawn from real myth, with mechanics that reflect who they are.

  • No two runs alike — the dice, artifacts, and potions you find shape a build no other run will have.

  • Three acts — descend, gather power, and see how far your luck and skill can carry you.

What Awaits You

  • 36 enemies, each drawn from Slavic folklore with its own combat behavior

  • 21 artifacts to reshape your build

  • 16 potions to turn the tide mid-fight

  • 19 mystery events with real consequences

  • 27 die faces to build around

  • 14 status effects that stack, decay, and collide with each other
