About This Game

Hexgarden is a peaceful building and card game in which you gradually expand your magical garden. You arrange plant shapes so that they synergize with one another. Harvesting a plant increases the witch’s power – but frost regularly descends upon the garden and puts her magical strength to the test.

In this turn-based deckbuilder, you immerse yourself in a peaceful, enchanting world. Gradually, you unlock cards and artifacts that help you throughout the game. Careful placement and synergies between your plants create strategic depth – without time pressure or complicated calculations.

Gameplay

In Hexgarden, you begin each round with a deck of plant cards. Turn by turn, you draw the top card from the deck and place it in your garden. Plants have synergy edges that increase your magical power when matched with edges of the same type.

You can use this magical power to unlock new cards and strengthen and expand the barrier that protects your plants from the frost. However, your deck contains not only plant cards but also disaster cards, which harm your plants as soon as they are revealed. The most important of these is the frost, which freezes all plants outside the barrier. But snails and "Stibitze" (little magical thiefs) also have their sights set on your harvest.

Relics are hidden in the mist beyond the barrier. You can unlock them by placing plants with matching synergies next to them. They may increase the power you gain when harvesting, reveal which card will be drawn next, or grant other unique buffs.

Deckbuilding and Cards

Your deck contains several different types of cards. Over the course of a round, your decisions influence how your deck grows:

  • Plant cards

  • Disaster cards

  • Shop cards featuring Wolfgang

  • Relic cards

Plants and Synergy Edges

Plants can be placed anywhere within the barrier. Outside the barrier, they must be connected to existing plants.

Where you place a plant matters, as every plant has a different number and arrangement of synergy edges.

When a plant’s synergy edges are placed next to edges of the same type, the number of points gained when harvesting that plant increases.

Harvesting and Power

A plant can be harvested at any time. When harvesting it, you gain power points for each of its active synergy edges.

These power points strengthen the magical frost barrier. Any excess power can be used as currency.

The harvested plant is returned to the bottom of your deck.

Be careful: harvesting a plant causes adjacent plants to lose their active synergy edges. The order in which you harvest your plants can therefore be crucial.

Defending Against the Frost

The frost is the most important disaster card and the main enemy in the game. As soon as it is drawn, winter arrives and all plants outside the barrier die.

The barrier protects your plants as long as the witch has enough power to sustain it.

After each frost card, the deck is shuffled again.

Exploration

Characters and items are randomly distributed across the map and can be awakened by creating synergies with them. They grant new cards or bonuses and serve as points of interest outside the barrier, encouraging you to explore the garden.
