What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Slipstreak is a movement shooter built for friends playing together, and its balance lives or dies in real lobbies: how fast the movement tech pays out, which guns and perks dominate, and which routes on a map actually get used. Early Access lets us tune all of that with the people playing it, instead of guessing in small private playtests.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are aiming for about 9 to 12 months. The movement and gunplay are in place; that time goes to maps, bots and balance. It could run longer if players ask for something bigger, and we will say so on the store page if it does.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our current plans, which may change with your feedback:
- More maps, built around the movement tech.
- Smarter bots that bunny-hop, wallrun and go for powerups, so solo practice teaches the real game.
- Balance passes on weapons, attachments, perks and the skill tree, based on how matches actually play out.
- More art and sound polish.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Slipstreak is fully playable today:
- Two maps, ARENA and VERTIGO, plus custom maps written as simple text files.
- Seven weapons, attachments for the rifle, SMG and DMR, seven perks and an in-match skill tree.
- Free-for-all and an optional team mode for 2-8 players over Steam or LAN, with a server browser and optional passwords.
- Bots in three difficulties, for offline practice or to fill a lobby.
- Proximity voice chat, full keybind remapping, colorblind modes and other accessibility settings.

Known rough edges: bots do not use the advanced movement yet, the art is a first pass, and balance numbers will change between updates. There is no controller support yet. There is no saved progress to lose between updates: the skill tree resets every match, and only your settings carry over.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No. The price stays the same through Early Access and at full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Tell us what you think in the Steam discussions. We post patch notes on Steam with our updates and use your reports to decide what to change next. If something breaks, the newest log file from the game's log folder helps us most:
Windows: %APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\Slipstreak\logs
Linux: ~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/Slipstreak/logs”

About This Game

Speed is your damage

The faster you're moving, the more your gun hurts. That's the whole hook. So you're not hunting for cover, you're hunting for the next wall to kick off, the next ramp to slide down, the next line that keeps your speed up while you put rounds in someone.

If you've played Quake, CS surf, or Titanfall, you already know the feeling. If you haven't, the speedometer in the corner tells you when you're doing it right.

The movement

It's a ladder, and every rung is faster and harder than the last:

  • Bhop — hold jump, strafe and turn together, keep your speed off the ground.

  • Landing slides — slide the moment you hit the floor off a big drop and turn the fall into forward speed.

  • Wall touches — tag a fresh wall for a boost. Same wall twice gives you nothing, so keep reading the room.

  • Wall kicks — jump the instant you touch a wall and bounce between them without losing a step.

The boosts get smaller the faster you go, so you're always chasing the cap instead of blowing past it. The speedometer flashes green when a trick lands.

Guns and perks

Primary, sidearm, perk. The VELO scales its damage off your speed. The DMR one-shots headshots if you can land them. Attachments change how a gun feels, never what it does to the other guy. Seven perks, and nobody can see what you picked, so there's nothing to hard-counter. Run what you like.

Powerups

Juggernaut, double damage, and adrenaline sit out on the map. They don't drop from kills, so nobody just snowballs a lead. You go get them. So does everyone else.

Deaths

Bodies ragdoll with all their speed still on them, so catch someone at the top of a bhop and they'll cartwheel halfway across the map. You don't skip it either — the camera hangs back and lets you watch.

Playing with people

2 to 8 of you, over Steam or on a LAN. Proximity voice is in, and it sounds like a 2013 Xbox party on purpose — muffled and a little crunchy. First to 20, or whoever's ahead when the timer runs out. Then run it back.

The maps

Built around the movement from the first block: alleys to wallrun, canyons to kick across, a trench to slide through, towers to jump off and convert the fall. More coming.

It plays fine if you just want to run around and shoot. It goes deep if you want to learn the tech. Either way you'll die laughing at least once.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Weapons and sounds come from CC0 asset packs; some art and the menu music were made with AI-assisted code.
