What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“American Life Simulator is playable today: you can work your way up from mowing lawns to owning and renting out houses, alone or in online co-op. But we want to finish it together with the people who play it. Early Access lets us see how players actually use the jobs, machines and economy, find the bugs we can't catch on our own, and focus the rest of development on what players enjoy most. We'd rather shape the game around real feedback than guess.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan for Early Access to last approximately two months, with the full release currently planned for January 2027. That's an estimate, not a fixed date: if the game needs more time to be properly stable and polished, we'll take it and explain why in our announcements.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early Access is short, so the full version is mainly about making the existing game more solid and enjoyable rather than adding large new systems. Our current plans:
- Fixes for the bugs players report, especially in co-op
- Better balance for the economy, prices, rent and progression
- Polish for the machines, controls and interface
- Performance improvements
- Translation fixes
- Smaller additions and quality-of-life changes that players ask for most
Priorities will follow player feedback. Plans can change, and we'll be open about it when they do.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is fully playable from your first lawn to owning houses. It includes:
- Neighborhood jobs: mowing lawns, trimming bushes with a chainsaw, collecting garbage bags and sweeping street trash
- Machines you can rent or buy from the in-game market: lawn tractor, street sweeper, bag collector and chainsaw, which need refueling at the fuel pump
- 9 houses to research, buy and rent out for passive income
- Neighborhood quests, HOA bonuses and neighbors with their own life stories
- Online co-op via Steam: host a world, share the world code or send an invite; players can send each other money
- 43 Steam achievements and Steam Cloud saves
- Interface in more than 100 languages
- Keyboard and mouse controls (no controller support yet)
Expect bugs and rough edges. We aim to keep saves working across updates; if an update ever can't, we'll say so clearly in the patch notes.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No. We don't plan to raise the base price when the game leaves Early Access. Players who buy during Early Access pay the same base price and get the full version and all updates at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the game's Steam discussions. There are dedicated sections for Bug Reports, Suggestions and Feedback, Co-op / Looking for Group, and Help / Technical Support, plus a pinned guide on how to report bugs. We read reports and suggestions there, use them to decide what to fix and add next, and post patch notes and development updates as Steam announcements so everyone can see what changed and why. Steam reviews are another important signal for us.”
