“I want to bring my game to the public as soon as its ready to play. This includes the ranked feature and Lane Royale. During the Early Access I will work on a more fleshed out single player mode as well as bugfixes, quality of life patches and much more.”

“3 to 6 Months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the full Version there will be a fully fleshed out single player mode that is currently not in the game. It will feature a roguelike gamestyle with multiple worlds, a bunch of different enemy types, a story, bosses and much more.

In this mode you can either play as the chosen road, blessed by Roadeus (the God of all Roads) or a Cartaker (pun intended) which is one of the heroic gatekeepers to protect the humans from the rogue Roads. ”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“In the current early access version you can play coop either locally on one PC or online with friends or strangers around the world.
You can battle against friends or strangers in versus mode, also locally or online.
Additionally there is a seasonal ranked mode where you can climb the ladder to reach the title "LANELORD".

Lane Royale, a game mode where you can play with up to 25 players, will also be unlocked with the full release.

You can also chose between a bunch of customization for road and car as well as quests (tutorial, daily and weekly quests) that will earn you coins which can be spent in the shop for additional customization options.

This game does not feature any micro-transactions.. everything you see can be either bought with the coins or unlocked with certain actions. ”

“No, the game will have the same price. ”

About This Game

Wait.. YOU CAN DRIVE A ROAD IN THIS GAME?! AWESOME!

Yep, welcome to Lanelord!

A chaotic Road vs Car multiplayer experience.

In this game you can either play as a twisting road or a car that tries to survive by not falling to its doom.

  • Road Player: Turn and shape the lane in real time. You can either help your friend to stay on... or place deadly traps to shake it off!

  • Car Player: Your goal is to stay on the road, no matter what! Use your skill as a driver and items to help you on your way.

Game Modes

Solo Escort

You play the road and need to escort a car as far as you can! Can you push your highscore?

Co‑op Mode

Team up with one of your Friends or a complete stranger to get as far as possible!
Sync your rhythm and use items to help the other player survive.

Versus Mode

In this game mode the road feels an itch on its back... shake it off!
As the car you just need to survive longer than the road.
Items in this game mode either help you or hinder the other player to progress.
Use them wisely!

Ranked Mode

Compete with a random stranger in a 4 round match-up.
To balance things out between rounds you will switch roll with your opponent.
Can you achieve the title "LANELORD"?!

Online Multiplayer

Each 2-player game mode can be played online against strangers.
Either open a lobby, play a quick match, which will automatically throw you into a game or compete for higher ranks with ranked mode.

Items

Choose a loadout of 5 Items to assist you in your battle to stay alive!

There are multiple helpful, but fun Items.
You wanna blow up some trees? Got you!
Maybe you wanna smack your opponent with a hammer? Good!

Customization

Shape the look and color of your Road and Car to your liking.
But not so fast.. if you want to get the cool stuff, play the game!
Everything is unlock-able by just playing. 

Weather and Time of Day

Ever wanted to play in a foggy night, or a snowy winter wonderland? 

Each Biome has its own randomized weather and time of day.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

I know AI in game development is a sensitive topic, so I want to be upfront: as a solo developer, I couldn't have brought this idea to life without it.
Lanelord is still a passion project, designed by me. Every idea and every decision came from a human.

Some icons and 3D assets were generated by scripts in Blender, GIMP and Python. AI helped write those scripts; I directed and approved every result. No AI image generators were used for anything in the game.
