What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The single-player side is complete and the 1v1 multiplayer works, but a competitive send-and-defend game lives or dies on balance, and balance only gets right against real players. Early Access means the economy, creep costs, and send timings get tuned with actual match data instead of guesses.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Until the competitive balance is stable and the remaining planned features are in — realistically under a year. It leaves Early Access when it's ready, not on a date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add Steam achievements and cloud saves, more creeps, towers, and gauntlet content, and a sudden-death mechanic so long versus matches always converge to a winner. We also plan to explore matches with more than two human players. Balance numbers will keep moving throughout — that's the point of the period.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Fully playable. Single-player roguelite gauntlet with four biomes, ascension ranks, and relics; free-for-all skirmish against up to five bots at three difficulty levels; and 1v1 online versus through Steam lobbies with invites and text chat, cross-platform between Windows and Mac. Ten tower elements plus forged combinations, around twenty creep types. What's missing: achievements, cloud saves, controller support, and languages other than English. Balance is actively being tuned.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase modestly at full release as content grows. Buying during Early Access is buying at the lower end.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The game has a built-in bug reporter (one key press saves the game state and a screenshot to send in), and balance changes will be driven by real match outcomes and player reports. Steam discussions is where feedback lands; a beta branch will carry experimental builds for anyone who wants changes early.”

About This Game

Line Tower Wars is a lane-defense strategy game based on the classic custom-map formula. Every player defends their own lane. You attack by sending creeps — they skip your lane and march down everyone else's. Gold goes to either towers or sends, and balancing the two is the core of the game.

Ten tower elements, plus combined elements forged from pairs. Wall off your lane, build a maze, and promote walls into towers as the waves grow. Sends range from cheap fodder to drain a defender's gold, to flyers that ignore mazes, to siege creeps that stop and destroy towers. Killing a sent creep pays the defender a bounty, so bad sends fund your opponent.

Your champion walks the lane and constructs each building by hand. Last player with a life remaining wins.

Modes:

  • 1v1 online versus through Steam lobbies — public or friends-only, with overlay invites. Cross-platform between Mac and Windows. Both machines run the same deterministic simulation; a desynced match is voided instead of continued.

  • Grand Melee: free-for-all against up to five bots, three difficulty levels.

  • The Gauntlet: single-player roguelite climb. Four biomes, ascension ranks, relics, and a rival that scales with you.

  • Text chat in lobby and in match, filtered through Steam's text filter.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some pre-made assets (3D models, sound effects, portraits, and some textures) were created with generative AI tools and then curated and integrated by hand. Music is human-composed and licensed. No AI content is generated while you play.
