What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Fifth Sun is a co-op survival game where groups of players build, explore, fight, and experiment together. Observing how real groups approach these systems will provide valuable feedback for balancing combat, progression, cooperation, and the overall player experience.

The complete vision spans five mythic worlds, with the first two forming the initial Early Access experience. Working directly with the community will help refine and polish the game as development continues toward the full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Current estimate is that Fifth Sun will remain in Early Access for approximately 12–24 months. This timeframe may change as development progresses and community feedback helps identify areas requiring additional iteration or polish.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to expand the game from two mythic worlds to five. Each additional world is intended to feature its own environment, creatures, bosses, dungeon type, equipment tiers, and distinct gameplay mechanics.

Other planned additions include expanded shapeshifting skills, extended Divine Favor systems, and greater challenges for later stages of progression. World 3 is currently planned as the first major expansion to the Early Access experience. These plans may evolve in response to development needs and player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version contains two playable worlds: Cemanahuac and the Jaguar Sun, culminating in the New Fire Ceremony.

Players can explore procedurally generated maps and dungeons alone or cooperatively through Steam using invitations, the friends list, and join codes. Current systems include structural building, tiered crafting and equipment, cooking, farming, explorable landmarks, combat, core Divine Favor, character perks and skills, and world bosses with telegraphed attacks.

Each world is designed to provide approximately 5–10 hours of progression-focused play, depending on the player or group. Players may spend considerably longer gathering resources, exploring, building, and upgrading.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Early Access price reflects the game’s current content and scope. The price is expected to increase gradually as major content, including new worlds and systems, is added. Any pricing changes will be communicated to the community in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Development plans and progress will be shared through a public roadmap, regular development updates, and patch notes. A dedicated Discord server will provide channels for feedback, bug reports, suggestions, and community playtesting. The game will also include a convenient shortcut for submitting feedback.

Player feedback will be reviewed throughout Early Access and used to help identify bugs, balance existing systems, improve usability, and inform development priorities.”

About This Game

The Fifth Sun is dying.

Enter a cooperative survival world inspired by Mesoamerican mythology. Hunt, gather, build, and grow powerful enough to confront the creatures and forgotten gods that stand between humanity and the next dawn.

Play alone or bring friends into a hostile wilderness where every expedition serves a larger purpose: strengthen your settlement, survive the turning calendar, and gather the sacrifices needed to reignite the Fifth Sun.

Survive the wilderness

Begin with little more than your hands and your instincts. Track animals through dense grasslands and jungle, gather wood, stone, food, and rare materials, then cook what you hunt and prepare for the dangers beyond your firelight.

  • Hunt wildlife with spears and other crafted weapons

  • Cook food and manage the needs of survival

  • Explore procedurally generated wilderness, landmarks, caves, and dungeons

  • Fight predators and mythological enemies with readable, skill-based combat

Build a home worth defending

Turn a small camp into a fortified player settlement. Build with wood and stone, raise walls, towers, houses, lakeside structures, and monumental temples. Your home is more than decoration: it is the base from which every hunt, expedition, and ritual begins.

Awaken the beast within

Craft increasingly powerful equipment, develop perks and abilities, and shape your character for the challenges ahead. Hunt as a coordinated group, combine powers, and push deeper into each world's progression before the calendar runs out.

Descend into forgotten places

Discover ancient entrances hidden across the landscape. Explore dangerous dungeons, solve environmental mechanisms, recover valuable resources, and uncover the path toward each world's guardian.

Do not face the old gods alone

Fifth Sun supports both solo play and online co-op. Divide the work at home, hunt together in the wilds, and rally your group for multi-phase boss encounters built around telegraphed attacks, changing hazards, and escalating phases.

Feed the Fifth Sun

Defeat the monsters of a dying age and carry their power to the grand altar. Complete the New Fire Ceremony, open the way into the Dead Suns, and continue the struggle across distinct mythic worlds with their own atmosphere, creatures, dungeons, and gods.
