“Hackagon is a competitive multiplayer game, and games like this are shaped by their players. Balance, new cards, agents and modes all get better the more real matches we can watch and the more feedback we can act on. Early Access lets us grow the game together with the community instead of guessing in the dark.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect roughly six to twelve months. We would rather leave Early Access when the game feels complete than rush to meet a date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to grow the card pool and the agent roster, add new board layouts and area modifiers, and expand competitive play with ranked seasons. We are also planning quality of life work such as better onboarding and match history. The final shape of these features will depend on what we learn from the community during Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable today. You can play online 1v1 through matchmaking or private lobbies, climb the solo ladder against AI opponents, complete the voiced tutorial, build decks around different agents, and progress through card unlocks and daily quests. Expect balance changes between updates; that is what this phase is for.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Hackagon is free to play during Early Access, and we plan to keep it free at full release.”

“We read everything. Balance discussions, bug reports and feature requests reach us through the Steam forums and our Discord, and we post regular development updates as patches ship. Match data helps guide balance work, but the strongest signal is always direct feedback from the people playing.”

About This Game

HACKAGON is a fast 1v1 card battler about hacking. One player joins the red team and tries to break into the network, the other defends it on blue. Both of you play your cards face-down, and everything flips at the same time. There is no turn order, so nobody goes first and nobody gets to react. You win by reading your opponent.

HOW A MATCH PLAYS

You get more energy every turn and spend it to place cards on the areas of the network. When the turn ends, all cards reveal at once and their effects kick in. Whoever has more power in an area holds it, and holding the majority of areas when the match ends wins the game. Area modifiers and different board layouts shake things up, so no two matches ask for the same plan.

WHAT'S IN THE GAME

Every deck is built from twelve cards and an agent, a character whose passive ability shapes how the whole deck wants to be played. The cards themselves borrow from real cybersecurity: exploits, phishing, firewalls, honeypots and friends.

Hit quick matchmaking, set up a private lobby and send a friend an invite link, or grind the solo ladder against AI opponents when you would rather practice in peace. Playing unlocks new cards and agents, and daily quests give you a reason to come back.

Matches are short and sharp. There is always time for one more.

Card illustrations and some in-game artwork were pre-generated using generative AI image tools, then curated, edited and integrated by our team. All game design, code, writing and final art direction are human-made. The game does not generate any content with AI at runtime.
