The moment demolition began to clear the land, a series of mysterious heavy machinery failures and fatal plunging accidents occurred. Development ground to a complete halt, leaving "The Former Inumaki Estate" abandoned. This beautiful grand mansion, a blend of traditional Japanese and Western architecture reflecting the Taisho Roman era, has remained a desolate ruin since its last resident vanished 20 years ago. The "defilement" enveloping the estate is far too complex; exorcism by ordinary means is impossible. Taking the situation seriously, the Shrine Maiden of Inumaki Shrine requests "you"—a specialist investigator of cursed properties—to conduct a field survey to pinpoint the exact "target coordinates" required for the exorcism.

Your job is not to "dispel" the spirits. It is to use various investigation devices to "record" the inconvenient truths existing within as processable digital data. "I uncover and record the truth. The Gradually Unveiled "Investigation Report" Recorded phenomena and items are compiled into your "Investigation Report." Gathering a certain amount of evidence progresses you to the next phase of investigation, unlocking new rooms and gradually revealing the true history of the estate.
