Build a Life in Underroot

Underroot is a 2D Top-Down Pixel-Art Mining Fantasy RPG. Arrive by train in a remote Mushroom Village, rent an inn room, and explore the local mining community before braving the dangerous depths below.

Prepare, Descend, Discover, Return

Explore persistent mine floors built from handcrafted rooms and procedural layouts.

Mine ore, loot chests, fight subterranean beasts, avoid traps, and uncover secret passages into deeper realms. Survival hinges on managing energy, hydration, oxygen, health, light, and backpack space. Push deeper for greater riches, or retreat safely with your haul.

Back in town, rest, process materials, trade, and track quests in your journal.

Gain Experience and Strength

Equip better pickaxes, weapons, lanterns, oxygen tanks, backpacks, rings, and provisions. Upgraded gear lets you explore longer, survive deadlier threats, and haul more treasure home.

Earn XP through exploration, mining, combat, and quests. Level up as you delve deeper and take on formidable realm bosses.

Uncover What Lies Below

A blight known as the Rot is spreading through the mines, corrupting underground wildlife and threatening the Mushroom People. Investigate ancient crystals, ruined machinery, and sealed routes to uncover what happened beneath the village.

Explore Alone or Together

Play solo, host over LAN, or join the online Underroot server. Co-op supports 2–4 players with synchronized movement, shared mine layouts, key interactions, text chat, and persistent progression.

Please note: The Underroot Server currently supports a limited number of players. We plan to expand server capacity when the full version of the game is released.

Current Features

• Grind through a 21-depth mine progression featuring generated layouts and handcrafted special areas.

• Mine ore, gather resources, find hidden treasure, and chart secret routes.

• Fight enemies and realm bosses using pickaxes, melee weapons, and utility gear.

• Manage health, energy, hydration, oxygen, light, and inventory capacity.

• Upgrade pickaxes, weapons, oxygen tanks, backpacks, and utility equipment.

• Return to a living village with scheduled NPC routines, shops, calendar events, ore processing, and quests.

• Track quests, discoveries, notes, and calendar events in your journal.

• Play solo or in 2–4 player co-op via direct LAN or online multiplayer.

• Retain personal character progression, inventory, equipment, and survival stats.
