Why Early Access?

“Praey for the Gods is an entirely crowfunded game made by a team of 3. The game has been tested by our crowdfunding backers in pre-alpha, closed alpha and closed beta phases for the past 2 years. At this point, the core game play is starting to feel solid and we've delivered on the list of content we said we would for our backers. However, we aren't done yet! We love making this game and want to add additional content, expanded lore, a proper ending, polish, and optimization (improved frame rate) prior to a 1.0 release.

Since the beginning our community has meant everything to us. We want to continue to work closely with our players to make PFTG the best experience it can be.

As we are in active development, Praey for the Gods may have bugs, crashes, and performance issues. We will try our best to keep the game experience as stable as possible, however issues will crop up from time to time. Supporting Praey for the Gods now in early access will allow us to fine tune, and add new content in conjunction with player feedback that will help us shape the full release of the game.”

“From the get go, we've relied heavily on our community and their feedback to make this game the best it can be. We've done our best to be transparent in our development. We have an in-game feedback button where any player can leave feedback/bugs they find and want to share with us. We put out quarterly newsletters, and are very active on Discord, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. While in Early Access, we look to continue this approach to our development and are always looking for more ways to connect with our community.

- Fixed resolution too high for graphics card prompt soft locking the game.
- Fixed game not auto recognizing Nvidia Titan graphics cards
- Changed Undead jump attack radius to be tighter to VFX size.
- Changed Champion staff hit box to be more precise, align with staff.
- Changed wraiths to have a slight bit more of an idle.

Early Access Build 0.5.011

Hi everyone!
This is our first of many updates to Praey for the Gods from No Matter Studios.

First off, we love all the support and excitement on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Twitch, Discord, Steam Reviews, Steam Discussions, and especially in our in-game feedback tool. A number of the players have told us how much they love how the game and honestly we couldn't be more happy with that! We've really enjoyed watching tons of players from around the world play the game.

That being said, the game is not done, and we're here to listen and make it better.
We're actively working on optimization as well as organizing our development road map based on feedback.

However, one thing we are seeing in current playthroughs is a notable death spiral happen for some players. Maybe they were low health, or low on food/items whatever. They'd start out okay, maybe even completely well stocked but they'd trip up or made a mistake and quickly the battle would spin into a death spiral for the player. That sucks, and that's not what we were intending to have happen for the player. Overcoming odds? YES! Feeling frustrated that they have no hope? NO!
To combat this we've adjusted our easy/normal systems to be more incentive based. So if you don't eat, forget to grab food/potions or can't find food you aren't penalized you simply aren't as rewarded. Food will grant boosts to stamina for a while and then return to normal and will no longer push the player into a slower state. We've also offered a subtle auto-regen that helps them get back in the battle and not feel completely helpless if things are not going quite their way. We found this offers the player a bit more flexibility with how they can be successful.

Hard/Legendary are relatively untouched at this time as most of this feedback came from Normal and Easy modes. Oh and being completely frozen and in the water, with 1 health left? Yeah you'll die now on all difficulties. To be clear, we aren't trying to make the game easier just better;)

This is a first pass so expect additional adjustments and keep playing and let us know what you think. We'll be keeping an eye on this too as we continue to work on new content.

Early Access Build 0.5.011

- Added a small Health Regen to Easy/Normal
- Changed survival mechanics in Easy/Normal to be a incentive based solution, eating and sleeping gives you bonuses which help in defeating enemies and bosses.
- Fade out the distortion sound while low health.
- Changed raw food to give the player a small amount of health, cooking food is still the best option for health.
- Tweaked the puzzle leading up to Boss 3 to be easier to jump to.
- Changed the amount of stats finishing a pull switch on a boss gives you per difficulty level.
- Added subtle particles to pull switches on bosses to assist in finding them
- Fixed a crash bug when dying in Boss 3’s arena
- Wood burns for a longer amount of time
- Changed the intro section to teach that the grappling hook can attach to rock walls
- Changed the intro section to teach climb leap
- Added more clues for how to get on to Boss 4
- Made some opportunities for getting on Boss 4 more manageable
- Changed Boss 2’s puzzle so it doesn’t require the player to redo the whole thing when falling off
- Changed damage player takes from attacks while in ragdoll to 0. No more cheap shots.

About This Game

Praey for the Gods is a boss climbing open world adventure game where you play a lone hero sent to the edge of a dying frozen world to discover the mystery behind a never-ending winter.

Overcome impossible odds to climb atop and defeat the massive beasts that are bound to this land.

Climb, Glide, Swim

You can climb on virtually anything you can get your hands on, from ruins and mountains to the massive beasts that inhabit the land. Ascend to the tops of mountains and then glide over the open world to reach previously inaccessible locations. Swim in frigid water to uncover hidden locations that contain secrets and treasure, but don't stay in too long or your swim could become your last.

Explore, Craft, and Survive

You'll arrive on a frozen island with only the clothes on your back -- it's up to you to survive. Make fires, hunt for food, and find the equipment you need to make it through an eternal winter. Nature isn't the only danger, so craft weapons, defeat minions for better gear, and venture into long forgotten caves to discover their secrets. Triumphing over these trials will prepare you for the impossible odds that wait.

Praey for the Gods is a non-linear game where you choose who you battle and how. The large beasts can be attempted in any order allowing you to set the course.

Unravel the Mystery

Why won't the winter stop? Why has no one returned? Cryptic paintings left behind allude to a story once thought forgotten. To restore balance and reclaim the land, you you will be faced with questions that not even the gods know the answer to.

A Beautifully Frigid World

Explore a landscape of unending winter framed by snow-capped peaks and crawling fog. The remnants of an ancient civilization lie before you, but don't let awe turn into carelessness -- snow storms can crop up at any moment and bury you in a blizzard. Luckily, you can leave footprints in the snow and follow your footsteps back if you are lost.

About the Development Team

Praey for the Gods is being created by No Matter Studios a tiny studio of 3. Brian Parnell, Tim Wiese (glasses) and Hung-Chien Liao. In 2014, the friends began working after-hours on their first game. By January 2016, they had enough confidence in their progress to leave game-studio jobs in San Francisco and move to Seattle. Working in Parnell’s basement, they pursued an all-or-nothing dream to make the game of their dreams.
