About This Re-release

First released in 2005, Dawn of Magic returns to modern digital platforms.

This is a re-release, not a remaster or a remake. It preserves the spirit, content, and gameplay experience of the original, while adding a number of small new features and improvements to the classic game.

About the Game

An original action RPG from the mid-2000s, now available on Steam for the first time. Dawn of Magic is a classic role-playing game featuring dynamic combat, loot collection, and character progression, where the magic you choose affects not only your hero’s abilities but also their appearance.

THE EXILE’S PATH

Once upon a time, Modo was an immortal being of the Absolute. For his crimes, he was stripped of his power and banished to Earth in the body of a mortal. But instead of remorse, his exile gave rise to a new plan. Now Modo seeks a way to regain his lost power, break free from his earthly prison, and destroy the world that has become his cage.

Choose one of four unusual heroes: An Absent-Minded Schoolboy, a Baker’s Wife, a Strange Gypsy, or a Fat Monk. They bear no resemblance to legendary heroes and are not tied to specific classes. In Dawn of Magic, anyone can become a mage, and the hero’s future path will be determined by the spells, skills, and schools of magic they choose to use.

You can oppose Modo, support his plan, or follow your own path through the story without becoming either a hero or a villain.

ANYONE CAN BECOME A MAGICIAN

At the heart of the game lies a system of 12 schools of magic, each offering its own spells, effects, and combat style. Fire, earth, air, summoning, blood, bones, light, darkness, and other forces can be developed, combined, and enhanced using scrolls, runes, tattoos, and equipment.

The deeper you delve into your chosen schools of magic, the more noticeably your hero changes. Magic leaves its mark on his body, altering his skin, facial features, limbs, and overall appearance. These transformations aren’t limited to appearance; they affect stats, resistances, and combat capabilities, turning your hero’s progression into a system visible to the naked eye.

EXPERIMENT WITH POWER

Dawn of Magic lets you freely experiment with your hero’s development. Master a single school of magic or combine several disciplines—create a direct-damage mage, a summoner, a hybrid fighter, or something far stranger still. Over time, the powers you choose will change not only your character’s abilities but also their appearance, transforming your hero into a reflection of your playstyle.

The game is presented in its original form, without any remakes or modernizations. This is a classic game from the mid-2000s with all the features and limitations of its era, designed for those who appreciate the authentic experience of older titles.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Dawn of Magic contains frequent fantasy violence: the player fights humans, animals, undead and demons using melee weapons and spells, with blood effects and enemies dying on screen. Magic themes include blood magic, necromancy, curses and demon summoning, and heavy use of magic visibly mutates the player character's body (horns, claws, tails and similar grotesque transformations). Dialogue contains mild language, occasional crude or suggestive humor, and references to alcohol (taverns, ale, wine). There is no nudity, no sexual content, and no depiction of drug use or self-harm.
