What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Xenogarden combines organic base building, real-time defense, and a mutation-based progression system. The core gameplay loop is already playable, but balancing, pacing, and strategic readability benefit greatly from real player experiences and gameplay data.

We want to use Early Access to work with the community on the difficulty curve, enemy waves, resource economy, leaders, mutations, and different playstyles.

For us, Early Access is not a substitute for completing the game. It is the phase in which we refine the existing foundation and develop Xenogarden into a strategy game with lasting depth and replayability.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect the Early Access phase to last approximately six to twelve months. The actual duration will depend on the scope of player feedback and the amount of additional work required for balancing, content, and technical improvements.

Our goal is to leave Early Access only when the game has reached its intended scope, the necessary level of stability, and a satisfying overall balance.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Compared to the Early Access version, the full release is intended to include more missions, additional narrative content, and a wider range of strategic options.

Planned improvements include stronger differentiation between leaders and their playstyles, additional mutations and enemy compositions, more varied biomes, and further work on the user interface, onboarding, audio, visual presentation, and performance.

A major focus will be a balanced resource economy, clearly defined difficulty settings, and enemy waves that create challenges through composition and behavior rather than primarily through increased health values.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version offers a fully playable core gameplay loop. Players grow an alien organism, gather resources, construct living buildings, select mutations, and defend their territory against enemy attacks.

The existing missions can be played from beginning to end and include different objectives, leaders, biomes, buildings, abilities, and card-based choices. Infecting and assimilating humanoid structures is also already part of the game.

The main areas of development during Early Access are balancing, pacing, enemy composition, resource distribution, mission variety, user interface improvements, performance, and general polish.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to increase the price moderately as the game grows in scope and approaches its full release. This is intended to reflect the additional content as well as the improved balancing, technical stability, and overall level of polish.

Any potential price changes will be announced in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to gather feedback primarily through the Steam Discussion forums, reviews, bug reports, and focused questions about individual gameplay systems.

We are especially interested in player experiences with difficulty settings, the resource economy, enemy waves, leader and mutation combinations, mission objectives, the user interface, and performance.

Major changes will be explained through update posts and patch notes. We will not implement every individual suggestion without consideration, but we will look for recurring issues and meaningful improvements while preserving Xenogarden’s core identity.”

About This Game

XENOGARDEN

Xenogarden is a dark sci-fi strategy game where you control an alien swarm spreading across a hostile world.

Build synapse nodes, expand your living network, defend your core, and overwhelm human defenders before they cut your invasion apart.

You are not here to save the world.
You are here to take root.

Gameplay

Expand your territory by growing a network of alien synapses. Each synapse extends your control and opens new tactical options — but every exposed node can become a target.

Protect your core at all costs. If humanity reaches it, the swarm dies.

Leaders

Choose from different alien leaders, each offering unique bonuses, weaknesses, and visual themes. Whether you rely on thorns, poison, brood, crystal, or cold beauty, your leader shapes the way your invasion unfolds.

Features

  • Expand a living alien control network

  • Defend your core from human counterattacks

  • Unlock multiple leaders with distinct playstyles

  • Mix strategy, survival, growth, and swarm pressure

  • Play as the invading force instead of the human defenders

  • Atmospheric sci-fi horror with roguelite progression elements

  • Multiple victory and defeat screens based on your avatar

Development Notice
