What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Gods of the Grid is already a fully playable roguelike, and I want to grow it with players. Early Access lets the community shape new dungeons, classes, relics and balance before the 1.0 launch”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Around 6 months, depending on the scope of community-requested content and balance work”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version aims to add more dungeons and bosses, additional classes and relics, deeper build synergies, an endless or ascension-style mode for replay, and Steam achievements and Cloud saves. Exact scope will be guided by player feedback”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Fully playable end to end: nine dungeons with bosses, demigod classes, boons, multiple relics, a meta-progression Temple, a global leaderboard and a daily challenge. It is regularly updated”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may rise modestly at the 1.0 launch to reflect the added content. Early Access supporters get the lower price”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through the Steam forums and update posts: gathering feedback on balance and new content, sharing the roadmap, and prioritising the most-requested features”

About This Game

Gods of the Grid is a match-3 roguelike RPG set in the world of Greek mythology. Swap runes to attack, heal, raise shields and channel the powers of the gods, then push deeper into nine dungeons of monsters and bosses. You only get one life per run: fall, and the journey resets, but the legend you build carries on.

MATCH RUNES, COMMAND THE BATTLE

Every swap matters. Skulls strike your foe, hearts heal you, shields grant armor that soaks damage before your health, and coloured runes bank mana for your spells.

Line up four runes to blast a whole row and column, or five to wipe an entire colour, and either one earns you an extra turn. Chain cascades for bigger combos and higher scores. Every enemy also hides an elemental weakness and resistance, discovered as the fight unfolds, so knowing your foe matters as much as your build.

BECOME A DEMIGOD

Begin each run as the child of a god, one of six demigod classes with a distinct playstyle, some available from the start and others earned at the Temple.

Every level-up you choose one of eighteen boons to shape your build, including build-defining ones that change how you play rather than just raise a number, and you claim powerful relics from bosses and merchants. Thirty-four relics span damage, defense, mana, healing and devious skull-synergy effects.

CONQUER THE DUNGEONS

Nine themed dungeons stand between you and Olympus, each ending in a boss who telegraphs a devastating special attack and enrages at half health.

Enemies have distinct traits and elemental resistances, so every fight reads differently. Between battles you take the road: heal at a Shrine, gamble with the Oracle, claim gold at an Altar, or spend it at the Merchant. Choose Normal for a balanced run or Hard for a tougher fight and a score bonus.

RISK IT ALL, EVERY RUN COUNTS

When you fall, the run ends and the dungeons relock, but your feats (56 to earn) are kept forever and you earn Favor to permanently unlock new classes and relics at the Temple.

Climb the global leaderboard, or take on the Daily Challenge: the same seeded boards for every player, with its own daily ranking.
