What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Business Wars is still in active development. The current build offers a playable foundation, but the structure and priorities of several major areas are still evolving: the company loop from product decisions through market, team, cash flow and financing; progression pacing; event and life-path coverage; and the ways relationships, family, property, stocks and the wider economy affect a company. Early Access gives players a chance to test these systems through long-form runs. Recurring, reproducible feedback will help us decide what to deepen, simplify, rebalance or redesign before 1.0.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Early Access to last approximately 12 months. This is an estimate, not a fixed deadline. The schedule may change as we evaluate player feedback and development progress. We will move to full release when the evolving core systems, content coverage, balance, usability and stability meet our quality bar, and we will communicate major milestones through Steam announcements.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For full release, we plan to deepen the company loop from product decisions through market, team, cash flow and financing; expand events and life paths; and strengthen the two-way effects between company management and relationships, family, property, stocks and the wider economy. We also plan to improve onboarding, interface clarity, balance, performance and Steam integration. These are development directions rather than fixed promises: their scope and priority may change based on testing, development progress and player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build provides a functional single-player foundation covering character creation, jobs, skill development, company and product management, stocks, real estate, loans, relationships, family, global business and long-term goals, with local save support. However, depth is uneven across systems, and the company loop and cross-system consequences have not reached their intended 1.0 depth. Content density, progression pacing, numerical balance, onboarding, interface clarity, edge cases and save compatibility remain active development areas. Players should expect balance changes, system revisions and necessary save migrations during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“During Early Access, we may gradually raise the price as we add substantial content and features. We expect any increases to be gradual, and we aim to announce planned changes in advance through Steam News and the store page. As the game approaches full release, we may continue to adjust the price to reflect the additional content and systems delivered. Regional prices and discounts will always be shown on Steam. This is our current plan rather than a fixed commitment; the timing and amount of any changes may vary based on development progress and player feedback.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through Steam Discussions, announcements and focused feedback questions, we will share current development topics and candidate priorities. We especially want feedback from long-form runs: where company decisions feel shallow or unclear, which life routes are underrepresented, and where progression pacing, balance or UI breaks down. Crashes, corrupted saves and progression blockers will be handled first. After that, recurring feedback with reproducible examples can change backlog priority, system scope, interaction flows and balance. Patch notes will distinguish shipped work, experiments and uncommitted ideas.”
