What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Daybots is a co-op game made by two people - two people can't find out what happens when four players share one colony, so we need more players.

Our goals:

1. Playtest the late game. Most of our testing has been the early game. Rail lines, conveyor belts, factories and large colonies are built, but very few people have played that far.
2. Balance. Waves arrive at dawn and grow every day. We need many players over many days to get those numbers right.
3. Co-op stability. Steam invites, LAN and split-screen all work, for up to 4 players. We need more networks and controllers than we own.
4. macOS and Steam Deck. We want both working before Early Access ends.

The in-game bug report button attaches logs, and we read every report. We intend to finish Daybots and will keep updating it until full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“~1 year - toward the end of 2027.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add better introduction to new players, such as a tutorial. We also plan on balancing gameplay until it's more enjoyable for a wide player base.
A few features we want to introduce will be are: Co-op stability, Steam invites, LAN, split-screen (up to 4 players), macOS and Steam Deck.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Everything in "About This Game" is already in the game, including:

- Day attacks, night freezing, and salvaging frozen robots for scrap
- Colonists who level up as Engineer, Gunner and Harvester, earn names, and grow old
- First-person control of any colonist, including tower seats
- Houses, food, and a growing population
- Industry from felled trees to rail lines and conveyor belts
- Co-op for up to 4 players through Steam invites, LAN or split-screen
- A tutorial colony, full controller support, autosave and manual saves, and 34 achievements
- Windows and Linux; macOS and Steam Deck are not supported yet

Known limits: the early game is well tested and the late game is not. Expect the late game to be less balanced and buggier.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We're planning to double the price on leaving early access - no changes before or after.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We welcome suggestions and feedback - we want to make an enjoyable game for everyone, although not necessarily in exactly the way they describe.

The in-game bug report button attaches logs, and we read every report. The default key to send feedback is currently "F", but it can be rebound to any key or controller input.”

About This Game

Daybots is a cooperative colony builder where every colonist is someone you can become. Grow a

colony from felled trees to rail lines, and defend it against robots powered by the sun. By day

they attack. At night they freeze, and your engineers go out to take them apart for scrap.

Command from above, or step into any colonist and play in first person. Play alone, online with

up to three friends, or split-screen on one machine.

## A colony that runs itself, until you step in

Colonists take jobs from a shared job board: hauling, building, harvesting, manning towers. Every

job trains them as an Engineer, Gunner or Harvester, and their clothing changes color as they

level, so you can spot a veteran from across the map. Work long enough and a colonist earns a name.

## Day is for defense, night is for salvage

Waves arrive at dawn and grow every day. Shooting a robot burns its scrap; dismantling one by hand

keeps all of it. So night salvage pays best, as long as no light wakes the robot under your

engineer's hands.

## Take the wheel of anyone

Drop into any colonist in first person. Chop, haul, build where you look, or take a tower seat and

fire by hand past the tower's own range. Let go, and the colonist goes back to work.

## From logs to rail lines

Wood, stone and ore become lumber, metal and ammunition. Robot scrap refines into metal and rare

Solite for advanced buildings. Rail lines and conveyor belts move goods so your colonists don't

have to.

## Features

- Co-op for up to four players: Steam invites, LAN, or split-screen

- Houses, food and a growing population; colonists grow up and grow old

- Food from apple orchards and the animals your towers hunt; a well-fed colony works faster

- Walls, towers and factories that upgrade in place

- Stone, metal and manufactured ammunition, each hitting harder than the last

- Procedural voxel worlds that wrap east to west, with seeds you can type as numbers or words

- A colony flag of your own design, flown on every Hub

- A ready-made tutorial colony

- Full controller support, including Steam's on-screen keyboard

- Autosave and manual saves, plus an optional daily pause that suggests a break
