Why Early Access?

“Axis Flip is made by a small, self-funded indie team, and Early Access lets us keep developing the game sustainably while paying our artists and musicians fairly.

Just as importantly, EA lets us build Axis Flip alongside the people who actually play it. As a competitive multiplayer game, things like map balance, movement feel, and netcode are best refined with a real community putting them to the test. We want player feedback to directly shape how the game evolves - which characters, maps, and modes we focus on, and how the core gravity-flipping gameplay is tuned.

We're committed to seeing Axis Flip through to a full release: actively developing it, listening to feedback, and continuing to add content and polish throughout the EA period.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Likely through the end of 2026.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“As development continues, we plan to expand Axis Flip in several directions. We'd like to add more playable characters, more official maps, and more weapons and powerups, as well as continue building out the level editor with additional tools and features for community creators. We also plan to replace placeholder art and audio with final assets, and to keep refining balance and netcode based on community feedback.

These are our current intentions rather than firm commitments - part of the point of Early Access is to let player feedback guide where we take the game, so our plans may shift as we learn what the community wants most.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Axis Flip is fully playable in online multiplayer right now. The current build includes:

- Core gravity-flip platforming - each player controls their own gravity direction, the central mechanic the whole game is built around

- Online multiplayer over Steam, with friend invites and lobbies

- Multiple game modes - Free-for-All, Team Deathmatch, and Capture the Flag

- A roster of playable characters

- Several official maps, plus a range of weapons and powerups

- A built-in level editor with Steam Workshop support, so players can create and share their own maps

As noted, the game is at an early stage and currently uses placeholder artwork and music in several places, which we'll be replacing as development continues.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we ship new content.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“By being very present both in the steam community and our discord server and iterating often.”
