What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Cidle is a shared, persistent world, and a shared world can only be balanced by the people living in it. Pacing, economy, how much of the map is worth fighting over, how raids feel on the receiving end: those are things I can tune far better with real players at real scale than in isolation. Early Access lets me bring the game to Steam while it is still being shaped, and lets players push on the systems before they are locked down. Cidle already runs live in the browser and on mobile with an active player base, so Early Access here is about growing and refining a world that is already running, not about starting one from scratch.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to be in Early Access for around 12 months. That may shift depending on how much player feedback reshapes the roadmap. We would rather leave Early Access when the content and the balance are where they should be than hit a fixed date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to keep expanding the world and the end game. On the list: more locations and enemy types on the world map, additional bosses and a deeper late-game progression, more campaign chapters, clans and cooperative play, seasonal events with leaderboards, more base themes and cosmetics, additional languages, and a broader set of achievements.

Alongside new content, we plan to keep working on balance, onboarding and quality of life, guided by what players run into in practice. The intent is that the full version is a wider and better-tuned version of the same game, not a different one.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Cidle is fully playable and the core loop is complete. The current version includes:

- Base building across up to five bases, with upgradeable buildings, walls, towers and soldiers
- A full resource economy: gather wood, stone, food, iron ore, coal and sand, then refine them into higher-tier materials
- A shared world map with mines, villages, ruins, shipwrecks, lost cities and dragon lairs, all on live respawn timers
- Real-time jobs that you can either wait out or speed up by playing short minigames
- PvE bosses (trolls, minotaurs, dragons, krakens) and PvP raiding of other players
- Progression through XP levels, prestige, mastery, 66 campaign quests and daily quests
- 100 achievements, plus cosmetic titles, relics and base themes
- One account across Steam, browser and mobile, so your base keeps running wherever you are
Updates ship regularly. Expect ongoing balance changes, and the occasional bug that comes with an actively developed live game.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Cidle is free to play, and we plan to keep it free to play when it leaves Early Access. Optional in-game purchases are limited to time-savers and cosmetic supporter items. No content, area or progression path is locked behind them, and we do not plan to change that.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is where most of the roadmap comes from. Every update is posted as patch notes in our Discord the moment it goes live, and bug reports and suggestions there are read and answered directly by the developer. A large part of what is in the game today started as a player suggestion.

We plan to use the Steam discussion forums the same way, and to put larger balance changes and feature decisions to the players before they land rather than after.”

About This Game

Cidle Online is a free idle strategy game where your castle keeps working while you're away.

Queue up upgrades, send soldiers across a shared world map, and come back to full storehouses, finished jobs and, now and then, a raid report from a neighbor.

Play in two-minute bursts between other things, or settle in for an evening of boss hunts. Either way, your castle is a little bigger every time you come back.

  • Idle at heart: every job runs in real time, whether you are online or not

  • One shared world: every player's castle sits on the same map

  • Bosses and rivals: dragons, krakens, a server-wide Titan and real neighbors to raid

  • Long-term progression: 10 castle stages, prestige, up to 5 bases, relics and themes

Start with a small keep and grow it through ten visible stages into a towering citadel. Gather wood, stone, food, coal, sand and iron ore, refine them into planks, iron and glass, and spend it all on upgrades that train more soldiers, store more loot and make every job faster.

When one castle is not enough, found up to five bases on the map. Max one out and you can prestige it for another, stronger climb.

Every player lives on the same persistent map, and it is full of places worth a detour: mines to explore, villages to raid, ruins, lost cities, shipwrecks and fishing spots. A Wandering Shop and a Gambler roam the land, and loot pouches turn
up where you least expect them.

Snakes and spiders, trolls and minotaurs guard their hoards on land, while krakens and giant crabs lurk offshore. Dragon lairs are the long haul: a 16-hour expedition, and the dragon may strike back at your castle while your army is away.

Every so often a Titan rises, and players across the server send soldiers to bring it down together.

Your neighbors are real players. Raid their bases for resources, build up your defenses so they think twice about raiding yours, and fight over towers that pay out gold for as long as you hold them. Towers reset every week, so there is always a fresh fight, and the leaderboard shows who rules the realm.

Bosses drop relic fragments. Piece ten together and you have a relic, the key to a new castle theme. A theme changes more than the look: Clockwork Tower speeds up every job, Dragon's Lair shortens dragon hunts, Treasure Hold improves your loot, and Iron Bastion hardens your defenses.

Along the way, collect titles, work through the campaign and unlock 100 Steam achievements.

Idle, or hands-on

Every job runs on a real-time timer. Let it tick while you do something else, use a speedup, or pick Manual mode when you send soldiers out and cut the timer down yourself with one of six quick reflex minigames. The better you play, the more time you save.

Free to play

Cidle Online costs nothing to play. An optional shop sells gold, gems, speedups and relic chests, plus a Supporter pack that turns your name green. Everything in it except the Supporter badge can also be earned in play, and Manual mode lets you cut expedition timers without spending a thing.

Steam and browser, same castle

Sign in with Steam on the web version and you pick up the same castle, in the same world, from any browser, including on your phone.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Some of the 2D art in Cidle Online was created with the help of generative AI
image tools. This includes parts of the sprite work for buildings, points of
interest and item icons, as well as some store page artwork. Every generated
image was reviewed, edited and adjusted by hand before it went into the game,
and assets are checked so they do not reproduce existing works.

All of this art is produced during development. Nothing is generated by AI
while you play, and the game does not send any of your data to an AI service.
