About This Game

You are a pyro for hire in the British town of Cinderton.

You start out with your own yard on the industrial estate, a box of matches and a phone. The estate people of Cinderton come to you with their problems, and you make their problems... unrecoverable. It's an easy business model.

Your neighbour, Big Dave, greets you like an old mate and gives you your first jobs: a few bin bags, no questions asked. He means it about the questions. Word gets round the estate, and before long the locals are on the listings app with problems of their own.

Burn "rubbish". Clear junk. Get paid. And especially don't ask about the lamps.

THE CLIENTS

Dave's garage is full of TVs and lamps nobody remembers buying, and his wife, Bev, has had enough of the lot. Bev also runs the "Nayboorhood Watch", and she wants the whole estate cleared: the fly-tips, the alleys, the waterlogged sofa the local teens dragged into the alley for only God knows what, and the caravan in the woods that the estate's husbands keep "going for a walk" to. Jayden 'Sick Burns' Pratt and his mates want their skate park back. Someone who won't leave a name would rather his sister Karen inherited a pile of ash than their Gran's furniture.

The bigger problems come from the council. The Sanitation Committee gets in touch on your phone, a channel they would rather not acknowledge. They'd like to remind you that fly-tipping is illegal, which is exactly why they're paying you to deal with the town's problem, and they hold no view on how you do it.

Then word gets round, and the messages change. Fewer names. Better money. Taped-up wheelie bins you're not to open, carpets you're not going to unroll, "gold" that doesn't behave like gold once a flame gets to it, and a sender who signs off with three question marks.

THE JOB

Some of it gets dropped at your yard, some of it is out on the estate, and the bigger jobs need a van to get to. That could mean putting in a night shift at the municipal tip before a Standards Authority inspection, or a trip down the sewers, where something in the lower chamber keeps causing what the locals call a "backflush" up the town's pipes during the Combustion Street ad breaks.

How it all disappears is up to you. Everything burns its own way. Bin bags go up in seconds, sofas take their time, traffic cones slump and melt, and waterlogged junk sits there steaming before it catches. Bigger things char, crack and come apart piece by piece, and the fire spreads to whatever's next to it. Gas canisters, petrol cans and aerosols go off when they get hot, so mind where you're standing. Stay in the heat too long and you'll drop whatever you're carrying and have to back off.

Padlocks and garage doors need a blowtorch or some thermite. Drawers and cabinets turn up cash, rings and other things people forgot they owned, or never owned in the first place. All of it burns, so check before you light. Most jobs pay per item, plus a cash-out when the job's done, straight into your Bank of Cinderton app.

THE HEAT

On the bigger jobs the clock is running. Take too long and someone reports the fires, and the local coppers show up to find out what's going on. Get arrested and you'll be fined, and it all goes on your rap sheet. When the heat's on, lie low and find somewhere to hide until it blows over.

Cause a fire that's too much to control, like a forest fire or a chain of junk going up one after another, and the fire brigade will turn up to ruin your handiwork.

THE KIT

You start with matches. Everything else you pay for:

  • Kindling Lines matches, and LIMPET sticky matches that stay where they land
  • Disposable and refillable lighters
  • Flaming Mist Deodorant by Ember's Perfumery. A body spray, technically
  • Turps, red diesel and petrol
  • Molotov cocktails
  • Thermite charges for anything with a lock on it
  • An industrial blowtorch, with upgrades
  • A flamethrower, with a napalm mix
  • A fire extinguisher, for when it spreads further than planned or you need to give the coppers a nice refreshing blast in the face so you can slip off
  • Heat-resistant overalls, a proximity suit, a foundry suit and a carry harness

WHERE IT'S HEADING

The plan is to turn a little fiery side hustle into a proper incineration business. Before launch I'm adding buildable incinerators, incineration contracts, a yard you can build up into a real operation, and a closer look at who's really running Cinderton, and why so much of it ends up in your fires.

FEATURES

  • First-person fire for hire in a grubby, made-up British town
  • Every item burns, chars, melts and falls apart in its own way

A NOTE FROM THE DEV

Incinerator Inc. is made by one person, me, in my evenings and weekends. Playtesters have shaped it from the start, and there's a Discord where you can tell me what to set fire to next.

Because some stains only fire can shift.

DISCLAIMER

Incinerator Inc. is a work of fiction. Cinderton, its council, its residents and its businesses do not exist, and any resemblance to real people, places or organisations is coincidental. The game does not encourage, endorse or instruct arson, fire-setting, vandalism or any other criminal behaviour. Incinerator Inc. is not liable for structural damage or rogue ash. Fire is dangerous: please keep it in the game, and if you see a real fire call 999 (UK) or your local emergency number. Not Big Dave. He'll only turn up with more bin bags.
