What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“ing of Props is a multiplayer game, and multiplayer games are shaped by the people who play them. I've built a core loop I love: hide in plain sight as an office prop, hunt everyone down with a barrage of fruit and vegetables, and taunt your opponents over 3D positional voice chat. But the competitive scene, the balance, and the variety of maps only become great with a real community stress testing them every day. Early Access lets me build King of Props together with the players who will actually live in its lobbies, instead of guessing what the finished game should be.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I'm developing King of Props entirely on my own, so I expect it to stay in Early Access for up to 6 months. As a solo developer I want to keep this phase short and focused. I'll leave Early Access once the game feels genuinely ready, not before and not needlessly later.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I'm working toward a Ranked mode with match results validated on the server and persistent leaderboards, more maps and hiding arenas beyond the current office setting, additional hunter and hider abilities, deeper character customization, and continuous balance tuning driven by real match data. I also aim to expand the announcer and audio, add more game modes, and keep polishing the presentation throughout. In short, the full version is intended to be a larger, better balanced, and richer version of what you can already play today.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“King of Props is fully playable right now. You can create or join online lobbies, customize your character, and play the complete Prop Hunt loop: hide in plain sight as an office prop while the hunters track you down and pelt you with tomatoes. It features 3D positional voice chat, hunter abilities (scan, tomato throwing) and hider abilities (decoys, mage hand, jammer), and the lobby host can freely adjust the match rules. The game is localized in six languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese) and includes Steam achievements. More maps, abilities, and content are still being built out during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, the price will not increase when the game leaves Early Access. Every update and expanded feature I add during and after Early Access is included at no additional cost for everyone who owns the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Every kind of feedback is welcome, whether it's balancing, bug reports, or completely new ideas. I read my players on the Steam community hub, the discussion forums, and my community channels, and the game already ships tools that feed straight into development, including player reporting from directly inside the game. I run regular balance passes and content updates based on match data and player input, and I especially want the competitive community to help shape ranked rules, maps, and balance. Your feedback directly steers my roadmap.”

About This Game

KING of PROPS

Become a piece of furniture. Fool the hunters. Claim the crown. A chaotic game of hide-and-seek where anything (and anyone) can become the King of Props.

“Hide & Seek”

The rules are simple: Two teams—the hunters and the hiders. The Hiders camouflage themselves, and the Hunters have until time runs out to track everyone down. Stay undetected until the end, and you win. Find everyone, and the Hunters’ team wins.

“Be the Prop”

Hiding is unique here: Take on the role of any object in the room—a coffee mug, a box, a fire extinguisher. Blend into the scene, find the perfect angle, and even stick yourself to walls. The best camouflage is the one no hunter looks at twice.

“Skills & Mind Games”

Hunters scan suspicious objects and throw tomatoes to expose fakes. Hiders choose their loadout: use decoys to distract, or use the Mage Hand to move props from a distance—and disrupt the hunters’ scans. And when King of the Hill is activated, hidden props start to glow—no one is safe forever.

“Map Seed”

Every round is different. Sometimes there are three coffee mugs in the kitchen instead of two, or sometimes none at all. So you can memorize the map layout, but not the prop locations!

“Customize Your Character”

A deep character editor: mix and match heads, outfits, and colors, and choose your favorite pose for the MVP. Bring your own style to every round.

“Play Together”

With friends or strangers. Public servers that anyone can freely join, or private rooms with a join code. Ideal for lobbies with just friends or for streamers with viewer sessions. The maximum number of players depends on the host’s connection (2–10 recommended; subject to change based on future playtests). Available in German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

In King of Props, generative AI is used exclusively for text-based content: An AI assistant helped translate the in-game texts and menus into the supported languages (German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese) and assisted with drafts for shop pages and marketing texts. I reviewed and revised all results. Visual assets come from licensed asset packs and are not generated by AI; no AI runs during gameplay.
