THE ICE IS NOT JUST ICE.

Numb Digger is a dark allegorical digging game about the Black American experience: being named by systems that do not know you, owing institutions you cannot reason with, and trying to hold onto yourself in a world that treats whiteness as neutral and everyone else as labor.

The title is not a wink nor a dog whistle. The system calls you a Numb Digger because it is easier to count a body than know a person.

Go below. Cut through impossible ice. Pick the right tool. Read the seam. Watch your warmth, air, stamina, and numbness. Bring up bodies, records, objects, lies, proof...whatever the cold has been keeping.

Then come back to camp.

Sell what you have to sell. Keep what you cannot bear to lose. Give things back to the people they belong to. Build trust. Unlock new hands, new tools, new routes, and new ways to survive. The people at the fire are not flavor text. They remember what you brought up, what you left behind, and who you chose to stand beside.

The shaft gets deeper. The debt gets meaner. The paperwork gets stranger.

But the camp can become something other than a waiting room for the next descent.
